You've slipped into a non sequiter, remember that the core topic of this
sub-thread is the Randi prize and how it works. The FUD in question is
the various lies about it that some supposed psychics tell to explain why
they are ducking the test.

I agree that reality tv shows aren't much of evidence. The shows on tv
aren't just about entertainment, they are also (dare I say mainly) made
to effect people's opinions and in one way control them. It is certainly
beneficial to let people believe that psyhics can solve crimes. I'm sure
you can figure out a few reasons why.
