Border's Book Store

They just built a two story Border's Book Store down the block. I was
going to ask how people feel about Border's since I frequent
Barnes & Noble. I was then struck by a wave of nostalgia. In 1996, they
put an art store in the building across the street (which has been a
storefront since the late 1800's), and I said to myself, "it ain't gonna
be here long." But this was a time of inspiration for me, as I was
painting watercolors. At that time, they were only selling tubes of
watercolor individually, so I bought my paints from the university where
they were selling multi-color sets of tubes. But the paper was much
cheaper in the hood rather than at the university or downtown. They had
good prices on brushes as well. So anyways, I'm walking from a community
meeting with the lady who has been our local Democratic Inspector of
Elections for many years last summer, and we pass the art store and
they're having a moving sale 'cause they're moving to another hood. I
says to myself, "I knew they wouldn't be here that long!" So I tell the
lady I'm walking with that I want to see what they have on sale, and we
go in and browse. While I'm browsing, the lady comes to me and says,
"wow they got some good prices and I been trying to get my daughter to
get my grandkids into art--I coming back before they close!" Then she
shows me all the different things they have for children to experiment ...

Bookstores are where they sell books.

I mostly shop on-line for my books, unless I'm buying on impulse. Relying
on a local bookstore's buyer is just an impediment.

Yes.
I am reluctant to remind you of this, but I will anyway.
There were times and places in the US where I would have been killed for
reading a book.
