Heroes are paragons of social values. Tom has his social values,
Spainards possess different social values. This is a country that
really saw nothing wrong with conquering kingdoms who didn't do a
thing to bother them, converting heathens, burning their books and
taking all of their gold, mind you.
Really, you should be asking yourself "Do I want to be a hero?" I
personally wouldn't bother.
