Hello everyone.
I recently joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn found at
www.golden-dawn.com and I am still wading through the proces of being
new.
I feel like I have been given an insufficient explanation with regards
to the material that I was supposed to receive. I was assigned a
tutor but I was also told that I shouldn't bother him with questions
and should rather post them on the Order's forum.
I am getting quite fustrated as I have been given a list of rituals to
do and practice (which I am) and yet I understand no theory on where
these things come from or why we do them. What is the consequence and
what are we supposed to achieve. I am an accomplished psychic and have
my own thriving practice - I have been studying the occult for many
years, and I know what a pentagram, hexagram, kabbalistic tree of
life etc is, but what am I supposed to be acheiving with this energy?
I joined this Order to have questions answered and I feel more
confused. I posted this same message on the member's forum, but I
haven't gotten any real answers yet. After reading some of the posts
on here I wonder if others haven't had the same problems?

Actually, it appears that the "cat people" and the "dog people" are both the
bizarrely distorted inventions of a single person with some serious mental
and emotional challenges.
However, he asks, while speaking as one of his fictional personas, a very
good question.
"I am an accomplished psychic and have
my own thriving practice - I have been studying the occult for many
years, and I know what a pentagram, hexagram, kabbalistic tree of
life etc is, but what am I supposed to be acheiving with this energy?"
This poignant dilemma is one facing many people who are attracted to
organized groups practicing magick. What has attracted them is the hope of
increased psychic power and increased personal respect, even deference, from
those who previously had seemed so intimidating.

Well......thats a matter of who you talk to...officially..."The stated
purpose of the Golden Dawn was to aid its members to test, purify and
exalt the individual's spiritual nature so as to unify it with his or
her Holy Guardian Angel."
Variations on this include contacting and establishing a link with any
"secret chiefs" or the attaining of "enlightenment" through the
practices of the GD.
Unfortunately, as with any human activity involving more than one
person, competing agendas, egos, politics & etc.. have rendered the GD
ideas, rituals & etc. subject to so much internal strife as to render
its stated goals as secondary to the goal of maintaining its existence
as a money making and ego enhancing exercise in futility.
