I've been perusing the boards over at the AGT site and apparently
they didn't even mention 24 of the final 40 acts to go through, so
there's still hope that they made it. When I do a search of the forums
there, I get no results for "Pendragons"... ??? although one of the
posters asked what happened to the Pendragons, I haven't found an
answer yet...
That show is seriously starting to make me want to blow chunks...

AGT has been off the schedule because of the Olympics... it won't be
back until after they are over...
Still doesn't answer whether the Pendragons made it through to the
end...
but at least we know they won't be scrambling to put together their
act... they have enough amazing effects in their repetoire that they
don't need to "rent" other illusionists effects and then try to do
them without rehearsing them enough, like that Criss Angel wannabe who
exposed his effect...

Unfortunately, this update is not good news, folks. This is a post
that Charlotte Pendragon left on the Genii Forum last week in response
to a question about what happened to the Pendragons on AGT :
" We left the show due to contractual differences between ourselves
and the producers. Believe it or not, yes performers must sign a
pretty hefty agreement. Our own assistants hadn't worked out their
agreements either. "
I don't know what that means exactly as she didn't go into detail, but
bottom line is they are no longer on the show.

Money talks, contracts say when you can talk;what about, when to,and to
who.
So....we have a high flying money rich couple who are not going to be
lectured to by programme producers who wish them to take a similar
contract to some unknown off the street, who has as much talent, but no
adviser.
This is where the already established acts, such as the
Pendragons, start to throw their toys out of the pram.
But,as you probably will have gathered, they have garnered enough
publicity from this event to keep them loaded for a bit longer.
It's all about the magic...my arse!!...it's all about the money!!
That's the way I see it but,I'm sure this will not wash with most
people here and I expect some hefty rebuttals to my thoughts, don't
worry,I'll ignore them!!
Cheers,Dale.

I'm inclined to think there may have been some conflicts with their
current commitments and contracts with their own agencies. I don't
know how much publicity they garnered... just because they were
momentarily spotlighted on an audition show doesn't mean that the
general public really knows them at all...
I'm kind of surprised at your reaction Dale... I never would have
thought anything like that in a thousand years...
I have heard other nightmare stories about the producers of that show
from a particular British magician who had attended the auditions for
the British version of the show and who was at a lecture I attended
(his name escapes me ), he said refused to play their game, as I
suspect the Pendragons did, so he was out of the contest... they were
trying to set people up by having them make statements on camera like
"yeah, I'm the best there is..." or "I think I'm better than those
other guys" and then they set them up to look like clowns in the
editing process...
So I'm more inclined to think it was the show's producers that were
making demands and the Pendragons weren't going to roll like that...
but I could be wrong...

Money talks, contracts say when you can talk;what about, when to,and to
who.
That wasn't a dig directly at the Pendragons, more of an all round rant
about player power and the uneven balance between talented unknowns
and professionals, who I personally don't think should be on shows that
are meant to be unearthing new talent, not showcasing established acts.
That said,do you think the Pendragons would enter such a competition
if the time scale would affect any prior commitments?
Two thoughts:-
1)-They had a small window in their calendar which allowed them a bit
of time to get some publicity but,not enough time to actually complete
the whole run of shows thus, the contractual differences line is an
easy excuse.
2)-Read the quote above. They are just not that desperate to win,the
prize money and fame would not have the same life changing effect on
an already established act as it would on a hungry unknown, therefore
they would not sign-up to the standard show contract. This I believe is
where the imbalance lies,it's the tail wagging the dog.
Also,I can't believe I've just quoted myself Jeez,I'll be talking
about Dale in the third person next.
Cheers,Dale.

Whatever Dale said in a previous statement by Dale would probably be
qoutable by Dale without raising any issues of plagiarism of Dale's
quotes by Dale... of course that's only Dale's opinion... I can't
speak for Dale...

Your assessment sounds very plausible. Kevin James didn't have a
problem denouncing AGT as being rigged to favor signers in an issue of
ReelMagic. He also explained that he was coaxed into going on the show
because it gave him tremendous exposure and would probably sell more
tickets to his stage act.
I suspect the Pendragons did the same: they were never interested in
competing, they just wanted some TV exposure to remind the average joe
that they are still around, performing. They more than likely ditched
the show on purpose, knowing they were never going to win anyway.
As you said: it's all about money and not about the art.

After all of the great work they've done for "the art", they deserve
to "sell out" a bit...
They're probably still paying Jonathon's medical bills...
I'm not putting a judgement on their motivation...

The My Network TV (not fox) network is producing new magic exposed
shows
starting in October. I guess the good news is that that should wake up
this
group.
