There is a trick where you have two cards, then you tear out the
middle of
both and link them. Does this trick have gimmicks?

I saw Doug Henning do this once on a TV special . pretty cool. I
watched
that show with a friend every day after school until the tape wore
out . i
heard he took lessons in close up with Dai Vernon , any one else hear
this ?

about the trickthink about it, could possibly it not have a gimmick?

Is there a book with a method out there regarding linking cards?

The method that DC used in the statue of liberty video does not use
any
gimmicks, just three cards held in a special way.

There is a manuscript available from Hank Lee (others too I am sure)
that is called "Cardboard Connection" by Paul Harris and this is the
linking card routine.
Paul Harris also authored "The Immaculate Connection" which is the
three-card link that Copperfield performed on his TV special.
Also available from Hank Lee.
hope this helps

I believe the trick is called Immaculate Connection. I uses three
cards
instead of two. It's a great impromptu trick. No gimmicks and no
setup.
And, everything is examinable.

Depends on how you define gimmick.

Paul Harris's Art of Astonishment books have several linking card
effects including his own Immaculate Connection and his earlier
linking effects. It also has Osmosis.

The trick with two cards (done by Doug Henning on one of his
specials)
is Sixteen Beme's Complete Card Linking. I believe it's out of print
although about a year ago he released a similar effect called the
One-Card-Link. That may be off the market too- it was a video priced
at about $60 and a limited number was made.

The big advantage to the Complete Card Linking is that the cards can
be given to the spectators to keep (in their linked condition).

The "secret" is that the two cards are not folded "into" each other,
but
each separately, and they are held as if they were inseparatable. In
the
DC video you can verify this by watching the colors of the cards.

Path is wrong on this one. All three cards are "au natural" right out
of
the deck. If you doubt me, contact me the next time you come to
Chicago,
and I'll do this for you with _your_ deck...it saves wear and tear on
mine!

Yep, I've got portions of decks spread all around the house, my
desk,
work, bars, of cards witht he centers ripped out - people ask to KEEP
them after showing that effect.

God bless Paul Harris. =)

The original linking card routine, "Cardboard Connection," was given
to the
masses by Paul Harris in 1977, and, as you say, uses an unknown 3rd
card.
However, another version, and improvement, was released by him in
1983, titled
"Immaculate Connection." This routine uses three cards, all of which
are known
and visible to the audience at all times, and all three come away with
no
holes, aside from the large ones in the middle.

Hoping to clear things up,

Nope. I stand by my original statement. The three ungimmicked cards
are
shown openly to the audience. You tear out the centers and then link
them. There is _no_ "unseen" or "unknown" card. This can be
performed
impromptu.

As I said, look me up and I'll _prove_ it.

You guys are arguing about two different routines.
One routine (earlier) is called "Cardboard Connection" it uses three
cards one being unseen by the audience and palmed off at the end.
The other is called "Immaculate Connection" which also uses three
cards
but all are seen and examinable by the audience.
The first trick is a two-card link and the second is a three-card
link.
You cannot compare apples and oranges!
