Holy cow! Check out the action over at alt.binaries.magic. There's a flood
of over 400 magic books and pamphlets.

There's books on that list that are from at least 2 members of
alt.magic on it. As a collector, I wonder if the binaries thing
devalues what I collect. Probably does. I'm glad I can't figure the
binaries thing out. Some of my favorite books are -not- on that list.
Don't diss magic shops though - they are quickly becoming dinosaurs.
Nothing gets me hotter than walking into a (sorry geno) -good- magic
shop, well except a blonde or readhead with a nice....

Use your newsreader to see the message headers. Right click on the
header and use the Save Attachment feature. A good newsreader will
ask if you want to combine all sections. Just say yes. Watch for
viruses. Binaries are loaded with them.

Thanks Ray! I even know people who carry whole lectures with them on
their iphone ( http://thelecturenetwork.com/)
I tried in vein to get into the ebook thing..from converting text to
speech (to make an audio book), to enlarging the font...(I just have
great difficulty staring at a computer screen). My favortie ebook
from Lybrary is the tarbell course (I think I paid $40), but really
only use the search feature so I don't have to thumb through the
volumes.
What do most magicians do with their prized collection of books when
they are childless and their relatives hate magic? I would come back
from the dead if my wife gave my collection to the goodwill.

I had that conversation today. "when your dead, your dead..what does

unlikely as collectors will usually want a real book.
I used to trade antiques and collectibles - that market is flooded with
fakes, but the real deal is still worth $$$

Collectors want the real thing, but those magicians that JUST HAVE TO
KNOW THE SECRET are also willing to buy the book, but if a PDF is
available, they will buy that instead, and share with their friends.
That decreases the need to buy the hard copy, which decreases the value.
