Official Phenomenon Site Up And Running, Interviews With Contestants

We are a little more than a week away from the debut of NBC's
Phenomenon and the official website for the mentalism competition is
up and running. Click here for a reel of interviews with contestants
Guy Bavli (bending a spoon), Jim Callahan (swears he talks to dead
people), Angela Funovits (explains why mentalism is cool), Wayne
Hoffman (says a great reaction can hamper picking up chicks) and Jim
Karol (the mad man of mentalism) as well as hosts Criss Angel and Uri
Geller.
One observation, considering how often Angel is repeating his
assertion that he will call out people who claim to have real powers
it may only be a matter of time before he and the strict paranormalist
Calhallan exchange words. Time will tell.

Magician Wins Nokia Short Film Contest

Nokia and the Tribeca Film Festival asked for folks to use their cell
phones to record 30-second entries for their Slice Of Life competition
and magician Shane Carter answered with The Creation. The clip that
you see above won the whole shebang and earned Carter a trip to
Manhattan from his home in Spokane, Washington. He received an award
in front of 8,000 people at the short film competition Tropfest where
The Creation was screened.
Congrats to Shane from iTricks, keep up the 30-second life slices.

According to the News Quiz, I was listening to on BBC Radio 4 October
12th Friday Night Comedy podcast, they read from the New Forest Post
an ad for a magician as follows "Robert Bone -Magician...Robert can turn
your wedding into something to be remembered"

Dan Sperry Transcript Available

Dan Sperry was our guest on the Magic Week in Review a couple of weeks
ago and boy was he in a sharing mood. We found out he was contacted to
be on NBC's forthcoming Phenomenon magic competition. We discovered
his current gothic make-up persona was born out of boredom during a
long period on the road. We even got a few details about his hobby of
breeding mini ponies.
Only one of those facts are false.
But if you are sick of sounds in general then feel free to read our

Dynamo Added As Presenter For Youth Award Ceremony

UK street magician Dynamo is set to back an "Oscar-style ceremony" for
the Bradford Young Citizen Awards 2008, honoring outstanding
achievements by the district's youth. Organizers are very happy to
have the hip-hop magician on the roster of presenters...
Awards organiser Asma Shaheen said: "The first awards event was a huge
success and, as well as marking the numerous achievements of young
people from across the district, it also included an impressive array
of talent to entertain the audience.
"It is fantastic news that Dynamo has agreed to come along as he is a
great role model for our young people.
"We hope groups and individuals will come forward to take part to help
us make the ceremony another night to remember."
Earlier this year, Dyanmo was honored by the Prince's Trust as an
example of a young person who's succeeded with the help of the
charity.
