TRICK BRAIN (Fitzkee Trilogy Online)

As of this writing hard copies of the TRICK BRAIN are now going for
more than $200. This does not fly for most of us.

I believe our good friend Jack Poulter turned me onto this online
version of not just the Trick Brain, but the entire Fitzkee Trilogy:

http://www.angelfire.com/musicals/fitzkee/TBc.html

It's difficult to say if the Fitzkee Trilogy will ever be reprinted in
our lifetime so my advice would be to download this onto a disc ASAP.
Don't just bookmark this website and exect the contents to be there
tomorrow. Make yourself a couple of copies just to be on the safe
side.

Oh, and while you're at it READ THESE BOOKS.

As a magical inventor myself I cannot understate the value of the
Fitzkee Trilogy. I'm just glad I had the foresight to buy two copies.

This site is still going? I remembered I surfed onto it about almost
4 years ago.

I like the "trick brain" It has most major magic tricks invented
summerized in 1 or 2 sentences each!

$200?? Dang! I'm glad I have the set! If anyone else out there is a
magic collector, buy everything you can SIGNED from Harry Loryane. In
my opinon he's the best magic book writer (outside of Lewis Ganson) in
the past 100 years.

The following 3 books puzzle the HELL out of me on why they go so high
on ebay:

Cards as weapons
Psychological Subtleties by Banachek
Pure Effect by Darren Brown

I have all 3 books and none of them was earth shattering to me. I
would have been upset if I paid $100-$200 for these...

There are two editions of this book.

The first version included some material he used, and was removed from
the second edition.

Derren has decided to not print any more copies of his books.
They will not be reprinted.

Thanks Max! 'Learned something today.

The printing I have says "third edition." I'm curious what effect(s)
he took out, but I don't think I'd pay the the $100-$200 price tag on
ebay for it. It's been (at least 2? years since I read the book). I
remember it being rather preachy and big on theory but nothing really
practical. (I can also say the same thing about Brad Henderson's "the
dance" --another high value book for some reason on ebay for reasons I
haven't a clue on--). I'm not a mentalist, I suspose it is a different
kind of thinking... not my thing.

From all things in the book I do use a card trick as part of my
repertoire he talked about. He loses a card, fails to find it, and
opens the deck like a cell phone to call information to find the name
of the card....I use my own script :-)

I'm happy that my local magic store does NOT jack book prices up if a
book becomes OOP or hard to find. Does anyone else's local store do
that?

I wonder what that makes my first edition worth. I know a magic shop
that should still have the Trick Brain and likely has the entire
trilogy. I'll likely buy these as spares but if someone wants to make me
an offer I can't refuse, I might part with them.

I would estimate a first edition of the Trick Brain to go for around
$500.oo. More on my source in a moment.

Yesterday I found three copies of Pure Effect on this website, and
since opening my big mouth to someone else one copy is now sold. It
went for $288.oo. The two remaining copies start at $312.oo (I
believe).

Other than Amazon's New & Used lists, my main source for finding and
pricing rare and scarce magic book is the following website:

Mitch,

For your legacy sake, I hope you do put some kind of big book of
leary out some day. Just give the sign :)

As I understand it, the missing effect is only present in the
spiral-bound (lecture note) copies.

It will happen, even if done so posthumously. Someone is bound to get
ahold of my countless notebooks and boxes of documents and publish
them. It will be the biggest underground magic publication(s) anyone
has ever seen.

I draw up every idea I've ever had, and not just on magic. As you
probably know I have interests in other areas...some really illegal
stuff that can't even be talked about anymore. It will be interesting
to see who gets their hands on my notebooks first, some potential
magic publisher or the authorities.
