Neat tricks but tons of tude.
By AH from Frisco, TX on 3/12/2007
Cons: Poorly Acted
Best For: Everyone
Although his tricks were definitely interesting, the show started 30
minutes late. When Copperfield came on you could tell he was very
irrated. His monolouges felt forced and over-rehearsed and his jokes
against hispanics and homosexuals were not appreciated.

Egotist more than Illusionist
By Expected more in Scottsdale from Phoenix, AZ on 3/19/2007
Pros: Car trick was decent
Cons: All about his ego, Few magic tricks, NOT Family friendly, Not
Funny, Started late, Stupid sexual innuendos
If you believe David Copperfield is God then perhaps this show is for
you. After all most of the show is really his self-created worship
service complete with excessively long videos replete with self
adoration. The opening slide show touts how rich he is, how many
tickets he sold and how popular he is...okay, we can understand a
buildup, but then there's a video that is supposed to be "funny" about
how popular he is with clips from TV shows, talk shows, etc. of people
saying his name ad nauseam. That eats up more of his "performance"
time and by the time this video ends 10 excruciating minutes later,
the audience hears his name no less than 200 + times. But the biggest
display of outrageous and pitiful self promotion comes when he stops
his "show" mid show and shows another video about how great he is!
And, there were more tricks in the video than in the show itself...did I
pay to see a video of his illusions, instead of the real thing...
apparently so! Please we know he loves himself. But this show really
has it all, besides a narcissistic bent of abundant self love, he also
unveils family resentment when he has yet another video accompanying
his memories as a child as he talks about his grandfather who denied
his father from a career in acting--another cheap façade for a tired
trick...to make a car appear (his grandfather's dream car that he never
got) which was the only fairly decent illusion he managed all night.
The worst moment of the evening is when he turns to a sensationalistic
desperation ploy with a claim to be able to impregnate a woman in the
audience without touching her. Not only was this stupid, NOT family
friendly and gave a whole new meaning to the word tasteless, but it
all it ended up being was a lousy memory trick where he basically only
guesses the "name" of the baby on a giant birth announcement. The
phony sonogram, pitiful "romancing" his poor audience member
"volunteer" and the sex jokes only are a facade for a really poor
guessing trick that couldn't stand up on its own. Copperfield had to
come up with a way to make it exciting--and his attempt reeked. And
what better way in our culture than to make cheap sex jokes that
really aren't funny and only serve to add to the inappropriate subject
matter that parents must deal with at a show that by no stretch of the
imagination needed to be indecent. His indignant mentions of his
"virility" by impregnating someone only confused children who were
embarrassed by his incessant sexual remarks (my teenager and pre-teen
included), but I think the man is fantasizing because NOBODY would
want to have his children. Plus he spends most of the time throwing
balls and Frisbees into the audience, walking around in the audience
and does few tricks that are even worthy of a $10 ticket price much
less at $[...] ticket price.

Disappointing, Astonishingly short!
By NY theatre girl Lee from Scottsdale, AZ on 3/20/2007
The show started late and was no more than an hour. He wa not engaged
with the audience and seem bored with the experience. In the middle of
this HOUR - he showed us all a MOVIE of OTHER shows he'd done, OTHER
tricks and how great others thought he was! I took my 13 yr. old, we
had fantastic seats and were ready to "be amazed". He was
disappointed. People leaving were very quiet. We were all stunned it
was so short!

Expected more
By [...] from Calgary, Alberta on 1/18/2007
Pros: Great Set Design
Cons: Difficult To Hear
Best For: Everyone
I've saw David Copperfield in Las Vegas about 12 years ago and I
thought his performance was far superior. Too much time was wasted on
the video show that built up David Copperfield and not enought
illusions were performed. I though that the show was way overpriced
for the amount of illusions performed. We recently saw Lance Burton in
Las Vegas this past summer and expected far more from David
Copperfield based on the amount of illusions that Lance Burton
performed. I would not go to see him again based on this last
performance. It seemed to be more of a power trip for Copperfield
rather than a performance to wow the audience. I would only recommend
this show to someone who has never seen a good illusionist, but if you
are going to Vegas soon, save your money and see Lance Burton instead.

Expected more from a DC show
By DRH from Lubbock, TX on 3/15/2007
Pros: It was David Copperfield
Cons: Not enough illusions
Best For: The Whole Family
No special back drops, no girls, not enough illusions, nothing new
under the sun. Was shocked to see that he was doing old illusions for
most of the show. Not what I expected from a David Copperfield show.
It appeared that he did not want to be on stage. The last illusions is
as alwasys, AWESOME! Nothing like his vegas shows.

A Little Disappointing
By Kym from Yuba City, CA on 1/2/2008
Pros: Awesome Magic
Cons: A Little Boring at Times, Dressed Unprofessional, He Seemed
Bored and Tired, Not Enthusiastic, Not Spectacular, Small Stage Set Up
For the price of the ticket, it was not worth it. David didn't seem
into it at all. The only time he made it exciting was when he did a
magic trick. He seemed really tired and bored.

The Man Has Lost His Mind
By Vegas Joe from Las Vegas, NV on 8/8/2007
Pros: Some good illusions
Cons: Megalomaniac
Best For: Drunk or Bored Gamblers
I couldn't believe this show... I was looking forward to it - it was
the only show I was taking my family to during our Vegas vacation. I'm
convinced that the man has lost his mind - the great percentage of
time allocated to the show was all about his delusional grandeur and
that he was the greatest magician ever to live - "Even Houdini had
only two hours of material," the intro video that occupies over ten-
minutes of self indulgence claims. There are two good illusions during
the show, but the fluff, self-hype, and sexual references ruined the
show for us. David, I'm sorry, but you are a much older chap now and
not the be all end all that you think you once were. Focus your show
on your talents of illusion and dump all of the ridiculous self-
promoting garbage. I cannot honestly recommend the show to anyone, but
perhaps could if he focused on his talents - the illusions.

Pros: Audience Loved It, Great for the family
Best For: Everyone
Our seats were fantastic... I mean all these years later and David
Copperfield still leaves me stunned. I grew up watching all of his
specials on tv, so it was great to finally see him live and right up
close... still didn't help me to figure out how in the heck he does
all of that! My son loves magic tricks and illusions, so it was right
up his alley... he is 12.

Very disappointing
By Sally from Alberta, Canada on 1/19/2008
We came all the way from Alberta, Canada hoping to see an amazing show
but were very disappointed. David Copperfield spent more time showing
us home videos than actually doing magic. It seemed he was bored and
couldn't wait until the show (if you call it that) was over. He seemed
very arrogant, self absorbed and he could care less about what we
thought. For the price of the ticket we all felt ripped off and will
not recommend this to anyone. Don't waste your money going to this
show, just watch some previously recorded videos of him, you'll
probably be alot more impressed.

Definitely has an ego trip.....
By skeptical from dallas, TX on 3/12/2007
Great illusionist but something that someone has already eluded to
above is that there was too much buildup of DC and not enough show. We
already know your famous and have a huge following that's why we
bought the tickets in the first place. Just show us some magic dammit.
That's what we paid for and no your not sexy either old man so don't
try and act like some sex idol with the women in the audience. Just do
what your paid to do!!!!!!

Disappointing
By Laker from Boston, Massachusetts on 6/29/2007
Pros: A few good illusions
Cons: very short,lots of filler
Best For: People with money to burn
The show was billed as "An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion". It
should have been called "Less than a Hour of Filler and a Few Good
Illusions". It was a very short "evening". After spending almost $400
for me, my wife and teenage daughters we were all stunned by how
little we got for the money. The promised 90 minute show started at
7:55 and lasted about an hour. We were there at 6:45 and got to watch
a screen with quotes rotating of how great and successful he is for 70
minutes. Much of the show itself was filled with videos proclaiming
his greatness, clips from TV shows, home movies from when he was
little and videos of his really good tricks. We were wondering how
much you have to pay to see those REALLY good tricks live. Apparently
$97/person only gets you the video. He takes lots of time strolling
slowly through the audience looking for "volunteers" and turns simple
card tricks or a disappearing duck into extended periods of wasted
time. At one point he left the stage and ran more clips and another
long slide show with a voice booming things like: "Most tickets sold
in history!", "Most money earned by a magician ever". After watching
that for 70 minutes before the show we had been there, done that. In
fairness there were a few amazing illusions. He makes a car appear out
of nowhere and got into this gizmo that appeared to make him shrink to
about 2 feet long. Those were pretty good although the trick I liked
most was when he lifted a big pickle jar (leading to some tasteless
jokes as he pulled a bigger pickle from his pants)out of a thin
briefcase. It was over before we knew it and we felt ripped off. Is
this all you get for $400 in Vegas?

David Copperfield
By Gus from IL on 4/30/2007
Pros: About 3 tricks were amazi
Best For: Not worth the money spent
David Copperfield looked bored. About 3 of his tricks were interesting
and amazing; that left about one and a half hours of bragging
marketing videos, etc. His sexual innuendos were not family-oriented,
but he had to fill in his content of material with something, I guess.

Copperfield has stopped trying
By Looking to be Amazed from Eugene, OR on 9/26/2007
Pros: Some good material
Cons: Lacked continutiy, Too much video
Best For: Just gotta see him live
I have seen Copperfield live several times thoughout the years and I
have never been disappointed until now. David's shows have always been
top notch. Great illutions, great music, great choriography, great
sets. This show seemed to be thrown together from old tricks in the
warehouse. For a lesser magician, I might have called this a good
show, for Copperfield it is barely passable. If he doesn't get back to
creating great shows, the "Magician of the Century" will finish his
career as the Guy that used to do a good show. I would hate to see
David end his truly brilliant career in this way.

He wasn't worth the money

Pros: Great Set Design
Cons: Amateurish
Best For: The Whole Family
I saw Mr.Copperfield for the first time in Vegas about ten years ago
and that was a great show. I loved it. My daughter was about seven and
loved magic and grandma just so happened to see that Mr. Copperfield
was coming to town and gave the page to my daughter to bring home. So
being good parents to our only child we purchased tickets [...]. He
was 45 minutes late, there was no intermission and the finale, where
he makes 20 people disappear, well they did but he said there was no
time to finished the act because of the next show so that was it,
shows over bye. Everyone there that day was very disappointed
especially my daughter and me, I love magic to and after seeing him in
Vegas, I was impressed.

A waste of time and money!
By Mr. Big from Las Vegas, NV on 9/1/2007
Pros: A couple good illusions
Cons: Boring, His love for himself, Not enough magic, Too many video
clips
Best For: People with money to burn, People with time to waste
We spent the majority of the show watching video clips and listening
to him talk about how great he is. We paid to see him perform magic,
not to watch video clips and listen to him talk. How about actually
performing some magic and letting your talent speak for itself. If you
receive tickets for free and have nothing better to do, then I would
go see this show.
