Oh gosh, I have a lot of favorites ... I'll pick three:
1. Criss being buried alive and escaping (still freaks me out to watch
it!)
2. Criss walking on water
3. Criss being run over by the streamroller

What is the most amazing illusion Criss has ever done?
the one that struck me and of course it's not the only one is the
'burning man' episode where he lit himself on fire and then somehow
became the person putting the flames out. I cannot wrap my head around
that one.
Being hung by hooks had to be painful, I think that one by far was the
most difficult. I could never do that.
I am still new to the whole criss angel mindfreak show. I've missed a
lot. I never watched the show until my brother said something about
it, and since then I've become a fan and look foward to seeing more
tricks. 've only been watching the show for two months. I bought the
dvd set of season 1 and 2 to catch up. I've missed season 3 as well!
I cannot believe I didn't know who criss angel was until two months
ago. By far
it's the wood chipper that I cannot get out of my head. I watched it
on the DVD and have been wanting to see it again to give it a closer
look but I cannot bring myself to watch it again. If I cannot watch
that scene more than once he did his job!
Until I see more I guess I'll go with the wood chipper!

Every week he does something astonding but to pick the top ones over
the years :
1) Motorcycle jump ( disappear in mid-air ). Then appear in the crowd.
2) Levitate from one building to the next , or in the lobby of the
Luxor for that matter.
3) Walk on water
4) Go through the wall of an armored car
5) Charging bull disappear act. Reappear behind the crowd.
6) Many others I did not list.
The guy is just the best Magician ever!

As you might already know, I think that Criss Angel is one of the few
people in the world that possesses extreme talent. If you listen to
him talk about himself and what he does, you will hear him say that al
lot of what he does is illusions. But he does them all very well. my
opinion of the most amazing illusion he has ever done is hard to
choose. Because it is basically everything. But one of my favorite
demonstrations that he has done was when he was electricuted and when
he was driving in his car, and people blew the fire extingwishers, and
the car dissapered. That was awesome. What was even cooler that made my
jaw drop was when he set himself on fire, and then fell on the wooden
board, and people blew the fire extingwishers and then all you could
see was his clothes, then in a split second one of the guys with a
fire extingwisher turned around and it was him!!!! That was sooooooo
awesome

What a bunch of lame tricks this week! Do a google on hydrochloric
acid, and you'll read that it has a pungent smell, even in low
concentration.... I wonder what was in the foil packets that he
dropped into the glasses of pure water? And how badly presented that
was, with the mayhem of way too many glasses and foil. The snake
trick? - don't get me started! 4 easily identifiable vases, and
dreadful acting when supposedly bitten by a snake - a child could
have
done better!
The paintball trick used basically the same kind of table-loading
prediction box that we saw the previous week (notice how the glass
box
became suddenly opaque once the lid opened to obscure the chicanery
going on inside the box - ie getting the prediction from the table
into the cylinder).
The pretty girl's trick was virtually non-existent. Previously
obtained info on the 3 bimbos, and readily prepared the transfer on
the black sheet she carefully placed on her (nice looking) leg.
All pretty poor stuff, imho.

I think it was pretty obvious that all the glasses were water and he
had dry ice wrapped inside the foil. Weak effort on that one for
sure. There has got to be better "illusionists" out there that
these....

There's one thing all you guys are missing. The intended audience for
this
show is people who don't know anything about magic, not magicians. You
need
to look at it through a lay person's eyes. I was also somewhat
appalled by
the paint gun not hitting even close to the laser dot and the acting
on the
supposed snake bite. But my wife has been completely blown away by
everything she's seen on this show. And she's seen more magic than
most
ordinary human beings.
I would thing that magic buffs would be glad that magic of any kind is
being
promoted on prime time television but all the discussion here has been
very
derogative. I think there have been some good performances on the
show.
Not so much on the last one but in general it's been fun to watch.
Better
than most of the trash on television today.
But the good news for all you folks who have slammed everything you've
seen
on Phenomenon is that if it's as bad as you claim, the bar has been
set low.
So let's see you get your own series and blow the world away. Come on,
I'm
waiting!

No one is watching the show. It started as 45th and by last week it
was
around 75th in ratings. It could be canceled before the contest is
over at
this rate. They did it once before with a search for comedians.

But with the writers on strike they'll probably hang on to the bitter
end
just to fill the time.

I'm not a magician. The most I've done is to remove a quarter from my
kid's ear. (Although I can walk down the street and turn into a drug
store).
I've seen about as many magic performances in my life as the next
guy.
IMHO the snake trick and the acid trick both used the same principal.
Marked containers. In the snake trick the lids were presented in
order. There was a subtle mark on the various lids. The acid trick..
the same. Subtly marked containers. Nothing I've seen on the show so
far has been "phenomenal". Oh, and the overacting from the supposed
snake bite was laughable. I don't believe he was bitten. But, if he
really was, it would have been no big deal. No need for the producer
to come on stage, no need for EMS to tell him "You really need to get
that looked at". Yeah, I know it was all for drama, but it was laid
on
a bit too thick. Surprisingly, he claimed the snake has 60 needle
sharp teeth. They actually have a lot more than that. He missed an
opportunity to exploit that part of the presentation.
BTW... I think Criss Angel is an ass for outing the mentalist who
"channeled" the dead author to predict the contents of the box. It
was
completely unprofessional. Completely unfair. The guy was blindsided.
Criss himself does mentalism as a part of his act. Do we believe he
can read minds? Further, do we believe he can really levitate? Do we
believe he can really be sawed in half and live? How about being run
over by a steam roller? That one actually made me laugh.
C'mon, Criss, needs to get over himself. If he has a beef with this
particular magician, keep it off camera. He made himself look like a
whiny bitch when he challenged him. No different than if someone came
up to Criss on the street and challenged him to float over a
building.
It happened to Houdini when he took unprepared punches to the
stomach.
Why hasn't Criss outed Uri? He made a living scamming people into
believing he possesses telekinesis. He didn't do it as an act... he
really got people to believe that he could bend spoons with his mind.
Criss is getting a bit too big for his britches. I really wonder how
his live Vegas show will go over. A small percentage of the tricks he
does on Mindfreak are able to be done live. Fortunately he will be
forced to put up or shut up when it comes to true magic talent. From
what I've seen he is very talented in sleight of hand. He also uses
more stooges than the complete works of the Howard brothers.

I also thought Criss' tirade was the most unprofessional thing I've
ever
seen from a magician. It really pissed me off.

Well, in fairness to Criss, that particular mentalist claims to be
"real [although he and his cronies are deliberately cagey about what
that means]," and he sold himself to the show as someone who can
speak
to the dead. Of course, in practice, his act was simply and
overdramatized mentalist trick; he obviously wasn't playing at being
John Edward or James Van Praagh. So yeah, it looked like Criss Angel
was unnecessarily challenging an entertainer, the way a heckler would
attack a magician.
But here's the thing - why did the contestant go nuts and throw a
tantrum instead of saying, "hey, it's just entertainment! Like you do
on 'Mindfreak'!" It's because he didn't want to admit it was just a
trick.
This clown posts on the Magic Café, supported by his own band of
stooges, where they all applaud his "genius" at drumming up
"controversy" inside the limited confines of one or two message
boards
there. It's a classic little-fish-littler-pond situation. Put him
out in public, and he can't hack it.
To give you an idea of their lack of perspective, they are now
convinced that the three or four of them who are mad about Criss
Angel's challenge are going to use that incident to get Criss Angel's
Cirque du Soleil contract cancelled, because they (and their friends)
will refuse to see it! So there! One of them claims he got "shivers"
at the sheer brilliance of this tactic. Several of them are convinced
that Criss Angel trolls their threads and secretly follows their
advice. A number of them are discussing what acts they will do when
asked to guest-star on this guy's upcoming TV show(s) which they feel
producers must be clamoring for.
It calls to mind Bob Cassidy's comparison of mentalist forums to
karaoke bars - full of amateurs congratulating each other's
mediocrity.
That said, it was still a rude way to issue the challenge. But then,
Criss's persona is a rude, punkish sorta guy, so it fit. Personally,
I was more embarrassed by the performer's act, which has been
favorably and accurately compared to Meg Ryan's diner scene in "When
Harry Met Sally."
And in case this riles up any supporters of Jim Callahan / J-Ack
Galloway (his other screen name, "J-Ack" is how he spells it), I'll
say this: No, this does NOT mean I "love Criss Angel" or "worship
James Randi." It just means I know a bad act when I see one. So,
apparently, does the entirety of the Internet outside those two Magic
Café threads.
Magically yours,
Jim Kawashima

In a effort to remain fair... has Criss ever claimed on Mindfreak
that
he CAN'T read minds? That he CAN'T levitate? That he CAN'T pick up a
car? He and his staff regularly try to convince the viewing audience
that Criss has studied and practiced many of these "talents". They
are
being presented on Mindfreak as being genuine mind-reading, future-
predicting talents. Yes, Jim did present his act as if it were a real
talent. Has any other act on Phenomenon done any different? Again I
point a finger at Uri. If Criss is so against making claims of having
supernatural powers, then why does he sit side-by-side with one of
the
world's greatest frauds?
