To All:
This is for shop owners AND employees. Do you like to do work that is
boring but safe, or do you like to do work that is trick but risky?
And why?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be ambiguous. I'm not talking about
physical risk, but "doability" risk. Which would entail financial loss
for the company if the part couldn't be made within the quote. I hope
that's a little more clear.

I only do the boring work, that pays, so I can spend my time and creative
energy on the interesting stuff.

BD:
Worded that way seems to make it essentially an employee only
question. But it's a good sub-set of the original question and I'd be
interested in hearing any responses to it as well.

I'm there now....the problem is I'm the one who has to take the machinery
we have at hand and make it into machinery that can do the job. We have
some designs coming that will require _extensive_ change to the entire
process.

You can't 'idiot proof' anything....every time you try, they just make
better idiots.
