  Beckett CB151UL Condensate Pump

Author: jsforks
Date: Jun 30, 2008 22:56

Hi,

I am trying to trouble shoot a Beckett CB151UL condensate pump. I
found a pool of water next to my furnace and I suspect it is from the
condensate pump. The water level in the reservoir was fairly high,
close to the brim.

I do not have experience working with pumps but while the pump was on
I removed the clip connecting the hose and there was enough pressure
for the water to shoot out like a fountain. I was able to put the
tube back and the duckbill value correctly.

I have turned off my AC, and manually poured water into the
reservoir. This started the pump but I don't see it pumping the water
out (I did see it pumping water out before I removed the tube).

I would appreciate if someone can help explain the puddle of water and
why I the pump is not pumping water out of the reservoir? Also, is
there a owner's manual/troubleshooting manual I can locate online?
What other checks can I do?

Thanks.

Importance of matching evaporator to condenser?

Author: Carla Fong
Date: Jun 30, 2008 09:20

Hi all -

I've scanned the newsgroup postings and still haven't found a definitive
answer to my question.

We have an old (1930's vintage) building with an existing hydronic
heating system that we want to add some cooling to.

This has a very low velocity air flow and big ducts to keep sound levels
low. (think 'movie theatre')

The output port of the fan is about 36x48 inches going into the heating
plenum chamber. We're thinking of putting a couple of 5-ton sized
evaporators at the fan outlet (these will have about the same area as
the fan outlet), but our problem is that this old building's electrical
system can only support 5 tons of compressor without a major wiring upgrade.

What would happen if we fed the two 5-ton evaporators with only 5 tons
of refrigeration? Would we still get the 60K btu of cooling distributed
over the two evaporators, or would this just be a major CF?

Thanks for any advice. Postings to the newsgroup would be preferred as
the reply-address is spamtrapped.

HVAC ball park cost estimates for retirement planning

Author: tadamsmar

am doing some retirement planning. I want to estimate the cost and
lifetime of my HVAC system.

I have central gas heat and ac. The is 2 story and about 2300 feet.
The house was built in 1991.

Also, I would like to do some planning for what to expect. How long
do they last?
I see from some other posts that they may want to replace all the
duct
work. What should I look at to prepare to replace these systems. Can
I just replace the AC unit or gas furnace, only the part that fails?
Should I do that?

The upstairs unit is rarely used, only when we have company.

The downstairs outside AC unit is a TRANE XE 800 TTJ730A100B0.
Upstairs outside is TRANE XE 800 TTJ724A100B0. My web searchs have
not even turned up the tonnage of these.

Trane fan "On" for outside air?

Author: MNRebecca

Concerning the electric thermostat that controls my Trane furnace and
air conditioner, if I change my fan switch from "Auto" to "On" (so
that it runs continuously), is it pulling in air from outside or just
circulating the air already in the house? In other words, is running
the fan a good way to cool the house at night when the air temp.
outside is a good 15 degrees cooler than inside?

Thanks.

  Is it true?

I've read is several other groups many stated opinions that a very
high proportion of the "regulars" in alt.hvac are uneducated and
incompenitent morons. Actually, that's putting it mildly.

Is it true?

I did some extensive research and it is true, the alt. hierarchy will
not be carried by several providers. Unfortunately these are "major"
carriers so many users won't have access to this NG or even know about
(who cares about those fuckin home moaners anyhow).
This puts me and my newsgroup alt.hvac into a dilemma.

Though I've been banned from the professional web based hvac forums, I
will find a way for my followers to keep with me. By the end of this
year alt.hvac will be dust in the wind. How sad for me as I started
this NG and will have to die with it.

Esim. Indonesiassa on haluttu
saada riisipulaan kahden vuosisadon väliin vielä yksi kausi, eli 5 satoa 2
vuodessa. Ja tämäntyyppiset epätoivoiset yritykset räjäyttävät sivussa myös
maailman apulannantuotantokapasiteetit pohjiinsa.

  AC Compressor Shuts Off Periodically

Author:

I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice on a problem
I've been having with my Rudd Achiever 10 SEER AC unit. Problem may
have started a couple of weeks ago when it wasn't cooling. So, I
called an HVAC guy, who put 2 lbs. of freon in and charged me $209
($109 for the service call and $100 for the freon).

Everything was working fine, but a few days later the system wasn't
cooling again. So a different guy from the same company came out, and
found that the breaker had tripped, evidently because the hardstart
capacitor had blown. He wanted to charge me another $109 for a service
call and $240 for the capacitor, which I suspected couldn't be more
than a $50 part. So, I told him not to put it in, and I ended up going
out to a local supply house where I bought one for $15. Put it in,
and everything was working great again for a about a week.

Yesterday, however, the house was hot again, because the compressor
had turned off, and the fan in the basement was blowing warm air. I
checked the beaker, and found that it had not tripped. But I figured
I would try flipping it on and off which, lo and behold, caused the
compressor to come on.
