I saw a model home in Plainfield, Illinois (outside of Chicago) with Geothermal Heating & Cooling. What is the thinking on the widespread viability of this technology?

Can changes in humidity crack grout?

Author: tom
Date: Jul 22, 2008 14:17

I put a dehumidifier in my bathroom, which is the most humid room in
the house. That one unit keeps the whole house less humid, and is
great. If you want my recommendation, this is the one to get:

http://www.amazon.com/Soleus-CFM-40-40-Pint-Dehumidifier-Humidistat/dp/B00009RAVO/ref...

But I have a question about this. I am noticing some cracks between
the tiles in the bathroom that I didn't notice before. Maybe I just
didn't notice them before, or maybe it is a coincidence, but is there
any chance that drying out the air in the bathroom could create cracks
in the grout between the tiles?

I have a defective dual run capacitor on a Lennox 5 ton a/c unit . The
values are not readable on the capacitor, nor is it listed on the
electrical panel door . I tried phoning Lennox but could never get
thru. If theres a Lennox Dealer in this NG, could i impose upon you
to give me the mfd/voltage for the Run Capacitor ? Thanks much. Im an
HVAC Contractor in Illinois.

Tankless water heater pressure relief valve

Author: Paul
Date: Jul 18, 2008 15:08

I understand that some building jurisdictions require that pressure
relief valves be installed on tankless water heaters, but other
jurisdictions do not require this. The manual for my Weil-McLain
boiler does not call for one. I can understand a pressure relief valve
on a vessel such as a boiler, but why put a pressure relief valve on
the cold water pipe going to a tankless heater? A tankless heater is
just a coiled pipe with fins. What could possibly raise the pressure
to the point that the pipe explodes?

Just checking for those of you who use credit cards to get perks to see
what you're using. I've been using Capital One & its O.K., 1 %% cash back
or up to 2%% mileage, but you'd better pay the balance each month or the
interest charges will kill you. Some of the supply houses are charging 2%%
surcharge to pay your bill with a credit card now.
