Hi everybody,
Some time ago, I asked for some advice concerning the design of my
website. One of the tips that were offered to me was to create a clearer
form of navigation.
At that point, the active menu item had a different background colour
than the others, and a little arrow icon to indicate the fact that it was
the active one. On hover of all the others, that same background and icon
would appear.
I've since removed the icon for the on hover event - but of course now,
when I hover over the active one, the icon disappears. You can see for
yourself how it looks right now: http://haus.scienceontheweb.net/ .
Is there a way to keep this icon? I'm not sure how to do this in css...
do I need to set the on hover event for the active one to another class
or something?
Thanks for the help!

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to accomplish the following:
a {
background:black;
}
b {
background:blue;
}
c {
background:green;
}
a,b,c {
color: white;
}
In a format such as:
a {
background:black;
color : foreground;
}

Hi,
I am having trouble with CSS in that I can't
get the pseudo-element 'first-line' to work.
I have some pages that contain dialog. I use
a for this, with the character's name in
a - followed by the words in a
- . This
is rendered as I wish with the first line not
indented, the following lines indented, and no
leading (whitespace) between the two.
However, it is bad practice to use HTML tags
for layout; layout should be in the style
sheet. So I thought I would use the CSS
pseudo-element 'first-line' to mimic the
layout. Here is a test page:
http://members.tripod.com/martin_leese/Marvin/test.html
I have viewed this using Firefox 1.5,
Netscape 7.02, and IE 5.50. Only Netscape
appears to work, and only for
class="dialogmargin".

I just downloaded this FREE goal setting form. It is an excel
spreadsheet and really helped me get clear about what I wanted. The
program had me break down my goals into 1, 5, 10, and 20 years
intervals. There is also a place to list the 90 day goals.
Log onto http://www.yourrichlifeinc.com and go to the free downloads
section. It is listed under the 'goal setting manual' folder. I am
certain it will be equally as helpful for you. I want to see you become the
very best you possible.

Hi there,
We would very much appreciate critique for http://cabellhuntington.org/
- we opted for a CSS layout. We're aware fixed width is far from ideal
but it was requested - very strongly.
Thank you in advance.
Ed

Hi, I'm not exactly new to JavaScript, I just haven't used it in a few
years.
I understand the DOM to the point that I thought it was useful, but I've
come across a slight problem. A DOM object that is referencing a css
class doesn't have its members populated when the class style sets them.
When setting the class style directly on the html tag, is does work.
I.e. style="width:40" will populate the DOM object's width member to 40
(actually to "40px").
Anyone know why or how to get around this? I need to know the location
and dimensions of a DOM object and it would be a pain (as well as poor
style) to put all of the locations into the tag's style element on an
individual basis.

If you have a website or are into web promotion I will be glad to trade you reciproca links. I don't know how much you do or don't know but I will tell you one of the things alexa dna google base their page ranking systems on is the number of 'links in' that means the number of other url's they have indexed that have a link to your site on them, the more the merrier. there are programs that want you to pay. I have dozen of sites of my own and client sites where I can put links freely so whether you have 1 page or 50 we can work something out. I am not selling anything, just trading links, it will be a simple text link, no banners nothing fancy and the link doesn't have to be in an obviously high visibility place, just one the site so the botsw that scan the sites will see the link, if...
