EPA won't limit toxic pollutant in drinking water

Author: whitebird
Date: Sep 22, 2008 22:35

....The EPA document says that mandating a clean-up level for
perchlorate
would not result in a "meaningful opportunity for health risk
reduction for
persons served by public-water systems."

The conclusion, which caps years of dispute over the issue, was
denounced by
Democrats and environmentalists who accused EPA of caving to pressure
from
the Pentagon.

"This is a widespread contamination problem, and to see the Bush EPA
just
walk away is shocking," said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., who chairs
the
Senate's environment committee.

  What's the formula?

Author: Sanity
Date: Sep 22, 2008 18:06

There seems to be a formula The Bush Cabal uses whenever thay are
running a new scam. It seems to be based on the "Tell a lie often
enough and people will believe its the truth." saying. What I'm
seeing is they seem to operate on a formula, that is, it seems they
have a set number of times the lie must be told before they assume it
is believed enough for them to use the false information as the
pretext justifying what they want to do next. Like "The Boy That
Cried Wolf" story fewer and fewer are falling for the con game,
but... I was just wondering if anyone was keeping count. %%~\

Humira alert ~ not just expensive

Rheumatoid Arthritis Drug Humira Linked to Psoriasis, Herpes, Possibly
Cancer

By Martha Rosenberg, AlterNet. Posted September 18, 2008.

In six years, Abbott Laboratories' Humira has gone from wonder drug to
wonder-how-it-got-approved drug.

http://www.alternet.org/healthwellness/98959/
.........................
And, unlike its main competitor in 2003, Johnson & Johnson's Remicade,
which a doctor had to administer in the office, you could inject
Humira at home!

But even as Abbott lobbied Congress successfully in 2003 to get
Humira's $15,000-a-year costs on the Medicare dole and seeded seniors
with freebies before Humira's risks -- and especially higher risks for
seniors -- were made public, Humira's safety profile had to be revised
downward.

Clinical trials in 2004 revealed allergic reactions including
anaphylactoid in 1 percent of Humira patients as well as cytopenia, a
serious hematologic event, and pancytopenia and aplastic anemia, bone
marrow conditions.
