Forty-Three Treated for Meningitis at Rainbow Gathering in the Ozarks
Friday, July 06, 2007
FALLSVILLE, Ark. - A case of bacterial meningitis among the several
thousand Rainbow Family visitors gathered in the Ozark National Forest
prompted health officials to provide preventive doses of antibiotics
to 43.
The U-S Forest Service says three nurses from the Arkansas Health
Department were delayed a day in providing the antibiotics when the
area where they visited Tuesday also turned out to be the site of a
drug bust.
But the nurses returned on Wednesday to administer ciprofloxacin,
known as "cipro."
The state Health Department says a woman was diagnosed with Neisseria
meningitis, an infection of the membrane covering the brain and spinal
cord.
The symptoms of meningitis begin with fever, headache, body aches,
weakness and malaise, and if the disease progresses to the brain, it
can result in a stiff neck and confusion, and might progress into
delirium or coma.

Of course the trolls (namely Da Boobie) will find some way to blame this
on me.... becuz as we all know by now I control the weather and the
insect population of Arkansas (according to him).... why not blame me
now that people are getting sick.

Thanx David.... the first thing I did was checked out WebMD and Wiki for
what this is about.... not good.... hopefully the USFS and the state

Who was responsible for broadcasting the location of Thanksgiving
Council in Austin by threatening to contact the police and the
landlord of the property?
Who spent months cheerleading the efforts of the Arkansas scouts to
find a site in the Ozarks rather than concentrating on Northern Texas?
Who spent months spreading lies about Principle's efforts to find a
site in Texas?
and after all your efforts to have the site in the Ozarks - decided
not to attend.
I KNOW for a FACT - because I was THERE - that Vision Council did NOT
envision the Family having the Annual in the Ozarks - a forest that
caused so many folks to get sick in '94.

The forest didn't make anyone sick. Poor sanitation and personal
hygene did. Our Ozarks are no different than those all across the
central and southern US. In fact they used to be one integral forest
from the east coast to the plains. Myself and thousands other camp and
hike in the Ozarks every year and I even drink the water straight out
of the creeks! The Ozark mountains and forest is one of the most
healthy bioregions in the US. Here in northern Arkansas there are
thousands of cold clear springs that flow 365 days a year. Life among
the hardwoods and pines is healthy and vibrant.
The only reason that it is not good for hippies is because too many
people tried to use too small an area. Also too many people wanted to
play and bliss out while very few wanted to make the gathering work.
As for those who tried to have a Texas gathering, you better be
glad you didn't or they would still be trying to find thousands of
hippies who washed away in the floods. Maybe it was mother rainbow who
directed them to Arkansas instead.
Honestly, I believe it was a bad idea for us to have a gathering in
any of the three states, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas. I remember a
council that consent to not have any gatherings below 5000 ft...

See, I have Da Boobie blocked so in order to read what he wrote I had to
go over to Google to see it.... as predicted he is blaming everything
accept the people.... it's as if they are absolved from personal
responsibility in his mind.
Wait, and where is Da Boobie ?? last I checked he was not in
Arkansas..... sorry buddy but the "you didn't attend" line won't work
this year.
And as a note on the weather.... Austin is currently under a severe
flood warning right now and a tornado watch.... within the past 10
minutes the sky has turned an eerie shade of green and there is thunder
and lightening.
See, and this bad weather is traveling NE towards the gathering site
from here.

Chuckle ... point taken
I was on site for a couple of days around
the time Bliss (A) camp moved into the
Gather, attempting to greet folks
and reminding them to park off the road
for a couple of days.
The FS road proved to be a good test of
my newly acquired vehicle (89 Jeep Sport).
I was amazed, as always, how folks managed
to park, (and where). I returned the 1st for
a couple of hours and had some trouble getting
into the site for the vehicles, so turned around
and took a sister and her daughter (?) into town
to meet a bro who was being released.
