Scientists move to visualise dreams

Los Angeles: Scientists have devised a mind-reading technique that could
possibly allow them to visualise someone’s dream by analysing brain
activity with a medical scanner.

Scientists in the U.S. led by Professor Jack Gallant of the University
of California, Berkeley, have built a computer that can "decode" brain
activity signals from a scanner and match them with photographs of what
a person has seen.

"Our results suggest that it may soon be possible to reconstruct a
picture of a person’s visual experience from measurements of brain
activity alone," Professor Gallant wrote in the journal Nature.

The study raises the possibility of the technology being used to
visualise scenes from a person’s dreams or memory.

"Our data suggest that there might potentially be enough information in
brain activity signals measured using functional magnetic resonance
imaging (fMRI) to do this in the future... In fact, so much information
is available in these signals that one day it may even be possible to
reconstruct the visual contents of dreams or visual imagery," Professor
Gallant said.

Clinton's tepid response to Ferraro is shameful
Olbermann: Senator, you must correct the wrong done to Obama

SPECIAL COMMENT
By Keith Olbermann
Anchor, 'Countdown'

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23601041/

By way of necessary preface, President and Sen. Clinton, and the
senator's mother, and the senator's brother, were of immeasurable
support to me at the moments when these very commentaries were the
focus of the most surprise, the most uncertainty, and the most anger.
My gratitude to them is abiding.

Also, I am not here endorsing Sen. Obama's nomination, nor suggesting
it is inevitable.

Thus I have fought with myself over whether or not to say anything.

Senator, as it has reached its apex in their tone-deaf, arrogant and
insensitive reaction to the remarks of Geraldine Ferraro, your own
advisers are slowly killing your chances to become president.

The bowel movement

What is your poo telling you about your health? It's the burning
question that has everybody's head in the toilet these days.

I am hardly alone in poring over "What's Your Poo Telling You?" Not
only does poo have a lot to tell you, but lately scores of Americans
seem anxious to listen. Last spring, Chronicle Books printed 20,000
copies of the little brown book, mostly to be sold as a novelty in
Urban Outfitters. Today it has sold more than 225,000 in big-box
bookstores nationwide. Apparently its success is proof that at long
last poo has come out of the water closet.

Have you noticed? Your ice cream is lighter. But the price isn't...

As prices rise due to higher oil and gas prices the dairy industry
has found a way to charge more for less. A "half gallon" of ice cream
is now 1.75 quarts. Soon this will spread industry wide to include all
dairy including milk. So a "gallon" will soon be 3.50 quarts. They
plan to do the same to pints also. Just another way for corporate
America to juke the people out of what little hard earned dollars they
still have...

"Hello, you have reached an office that thought it was so smart getting all
it's employees cordless phones. The person you are trying to reach is here
right now, staring at me as I answer this call and searching desperately for
their
cordless phone in the mess on their desk.
"It won't matter if they find it since they didn't leave it on the
charger last night and the battery is dead. So you might as well leave a
message with me and I'll have them call you after the 4 hour handset
recharge period is completed." [BEEP
