Well, I play on Farstriders, and the actual RPers there seem very rare.
I want to RP more than I do, but I can't find anybody to do it with. :/

G'day :-)

A few RP realm questions I hope you'll be able to help me with:

I'm thinking of switching to a RP realm having heard they're a wee bit
friendlier. Is this at all correct?

How likely am I to piss RPers off by being very light on the actual RP?
I'm not one of those RP suxorz idiots. I reckon RP is kinda fun. I'm
just not into heavy RP and don't want to be jumped on just cause I said
something to do with RL.

Which RP realms are cool? I play Horde BTW.

Side question: why does Blizzard let realms be so unbalanced between
Horde and Alliance? Seems counterproductive... Or maybe it reinforces
the us vs them thing going on, which can be cool I guess. I'm still too
new to really know WTF I'm on about yet, heh!

TIA,

Any ideas or guesses ( or reliable sites ) when it will come out? There was
discussion in our servers general chat about it possibly being tomorrow. I
normally wouldn't worry about it, but I'm about to make some gear
purchases... and knowledge is king.

  Low level hunter pet question

Author: Xymmie
Date: May 12, 2008 12:41

I'm leveling a troll hunter with a boar for a pet. I lose my boar often
when I'm just running from one destination to another -- say, The Crossroads
to Ratchet. My pet is there with me, then starts dropping further and
further behind, and finally is gone and I need to whistle for him.

The Bug Report Forum has numerous mentions of this, but I can't find
anything from a Blizzard poster indicating whether or not it's a true game
bug or if it's a feature of an addon. (I use only Cartographer and
Auctioneer.) Apparently this happens with both hunter and warlock pets, but
reports that I found are varied as to type of pet ( boar vs ravager, for
instance ) and realm.

Has anyone here experienced this and fixed it? It didn't happen when I
leveled my 70 hunter, so this problem would have started after the last 2-3
patches.

  Intense visit to Deatholme

Author: Peter Knutsen

Damn, that was intense!

I've actually never had such intense solo'ing in WoW before, and I've
played on-and-off for almost 2 years now.

My level 23 Mage had just buffed herself with some scrolls, on top of
the buffs I usually allow myself (renewable buffs like Troll's Blood and
Sagefish, and her own spell buffs), because I had done the last
Troll-slaying quests and needed only (to the best of my knowledge) to go
into Deathomle again, this to slay Dar'Khan's lieutenants and free some
poisoned captives.

So okay, I'm just messing around in there, trying to see far I can get.
I'm not afraid of dying, when playing WoW. I'm like, if my character
dies, my equipment loses durability, but I can just grind some coin to
make up for it (I'm not particularly clever or persistent a grinding,
but if I need a few gold coins, I know several ways of earning them).
It's not like if my character dies, my day is ruined.

But I mess around, trying to see what else there is in this area of the
Ghostlands, since previously I've concentrated (in groups, small as well
as large) on Dar'Khan himself. I need to find the lieutenants and the
captives.

Attacks cost less rage than expected

Author: John Gordon
Date: May 12, 2008 12:37

My warrior finally finished the Cipher of Damnation questline in SMV and
picked up the 1H axe for tanking. Up until now he had been using the
Crystalline Kopesh sword for tanking and the Ring of Blood fist weapon
for DPS, so his 1H axe skill was fairly low.

Following a recent tip in this newsgroup, I decided to skill up on the
corrupted totem guys in SMV. As long as you leave their totems alone they
have a shield that acts more or less like Iceblock -- you can't hurt them,
and they can't hurt you. Perfect!

However, being immune to damage means you never build any rage, so rage
management is somewhat of an issue. I had to be careful not to use Execute
on the nearby mobs to ensure a full rage bar for skillups.

After killing the adds and seeing a full rage bar, I went to work on the
totem guy. I figured I'd spam Hamstring on him, that being my cheapest
instant attack at 7 rage. But it worked out to be a lot better than I
expected! Each Hamstring was only using one or two rage, instead of seven.

Anyone know why this was happening? Do rage-based attacks get a refund
if the target is immune?

  Inflation in AH prices?

Author: cryptoguy
Date: May 12, 2008 08:50

On my server (Mischa - US), the AH prices for higher level herbs has
gone through the roof in the past few weeks - a stack of Mountain
Silversage can sell for 50-60g. This is nearly double what it was
earlier. Similar increases for other high level herbs as well.

I'm not complaining - my main is a lvl 63 with 375 Herbalism/
347 Alchemy, but what's going on? Is this just inflation, with
lvl 70 alchemists fat with Sunwell daily gold buying the stuff,
or is there a sudden new need for high-level herbs?

It's gotten to the point where my main no longer makes
potions to sell - its much more profitable to sell the
raw mats, and buy the potions. (He does still do some
for skillups, but thats it).

Are other high level items seeing a similar increase?

  Character search question

Author: djarvinen
Date: May 12, 2008 08:37

Is there a database online that allows me to search for a character
without knowing the exact spelling of his/her name?

For example, if I know this character is a lvl 29 Rogue Horde on
Ravenholdt, how could I go about finding him/her?

Thanks.

  Wearable items with charges?

Author: Peter Knutsen
Date: May 12, 2008 08:06

I just bought an Amulet of the Moon, from the AH, for my Mage once she
dings 25th.

I bought it for the bonus to INT (and SPI is nice too), but I see that
it also has 10 charges for +10 SPI, each charge giving the effect for
half an hour.

I've never before had a wearable item with charges. I'm used to Wizard
Oil and Mana Oil, where you spend a charge, and another charge, and when
you use the last charge, the item disappears, which is fine, because its
only benefit are the charges.

This Amulet differs, in that beyond the charges, it gives a nice
attribute value bonus whenever you wear it. So I want to know, what
happens once I've used the last charge? Does the item continue to exist,
in wearable state, but saying "0 charges"? Or does it disappear?

(On the www.thottbot.com page for this item, some person asked, 2.8
months ago, if there is a way to recharge the item. I'm less concerned
about this, than I am about my sweet +4 INT/SPI bonus evaporating once
I've used the last charge, but if there is a way to recharge the Amulet,
of course I'd like to hear about it.)
