The 11 Mexican migrants found dead in a sealed rail car in Iowa last week were twice
victimized--directly by smugglers who callously left them to die, and indirectly by a U.S.
immigration law in conflict with the realities of American life.

While the U.S. government has encouraged closer trade, investment, and political ties with
Mexico, it has labored in vain to restrict the flow of labor across the border. Starting
with the clampdown on illegal immigration in the mid-1980s, the U.S. government has imposed
new and burdensome regulations on American employers and dramatically increased spending on
border control. Despite those aggressive efforts, America's border policy has failed to stem
the flow of undocumented workers into the U.S. labor market.

grows by an estimated 250,000 as more enter illegally or overstay their visas. More than
half of the illegal immigrants entering and already here come from Mexico.

where six charges of first-degree murder and four of first-degree

five Taliban subcommanders in recent weeks, including a bomb-maker and

Ten French soldiers were killed and another 21 injured in the attack by
about 100 Taliban in Sarobi, 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Kabul.

NAIROBI (AFP) - - Somali pirates who seized a French yacht and kidnapped
two French nationals want a "ransom" of more than one million dollars, a
maritime official said Thursday, amid reports that an Egyptian boat had
been seized in nearby waters.

Andrew Mwangura, of the Kenya-based Seafarers Assistance Programme, said
they had received reports "the gunmen are demanding more than one
million dollars in ransom" to release both the yacht and the hostages.

The information could not be independently verified as authorities in
Somalia's Puntland region, close to where the boat was attacked, were
not able to confirm the claim.

Egypt's junior foreign affairs minister Ahmed Rizk meanwhile said a
"boat has been hijacked near Eyl in the Puntland region known for its

aircraft carrier with the Admiral Gorshkov, will soon position its men
on the French Navy’s aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to get exposure
to big vessels and how they function, a senior official said.

‘We will position our men on the French naval ship to study large ships.
This would also be an exposure for them in terms of how large carriers
