It appears many mental disorders will go the way of ulcers, caused by
bacterial/parasitic infections.

The parasite is called "Toxoplasma" infects the brain, with cysts, as
well as toxins.

In rodents, "brain circuits for many behaviors overlap with the brain
circuits responsible for fear," said Ajai Vyas of Stanford University,
who led the new study.
Vyas's team found that Toxoplasma, which forms cysts in the brain,
tends to concentrate in an area of the brain called the amygdala.

Because that region is linked to fear and anxiety, the finding
provides a new clue to how the parasite manipulates behavior.

Sapolsky, Vyas, and their colleagues reported their findings Monday in
the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The report states:

Brainwashing" Parasites

"There are a million examples of parasites manipulating host
behavior," said Robert Sapolsky, a Stanford University neuroscientist
who collaborated with Vyas.

This research suggests that parasites are able to attack the normal
behavioral patterns and corrupt them, and in the above case attacking
the area affecting anxiety, fear, with the probable impact resulting
in paranoia.

Remember this research was on one specific parasite.

Also historical historical evidence had always suggested this !

My advice is that many 'other' labelled diseases are merely different
bacteria, or different combinations, toxins, and variations in the
person, that result in different symptoms, thereby different diseases;
its all marketing.

SOLUTIONS:

Wide spectrum anti-biotic, (the older ones are better) as the newer
ones are more specific, or look up herbal treatments for parasites,
and one of the best is diced garlic with water. (Yes I know too
simple) together with high fiber and probiotics.
