I try to defeat it AFAP. When I go upstairs for something, I
refuse to give up and retrace my steps until I recall what it was.
It does seem to get easier if you persevere!
My neighbour is a couple of years older than I, and is "losing it" since
her husband died. He did everything, business-wise, and she has
had too many folk fussing round her instead of leaving her to learn to
think for herself.
She takes on commitments without considering existing arrangements.
eg - She has a budgerigar, and had assumed that I would look after it
whilst she goes on holiday. Unfortunately the holiday is
open-ended, maybe a week or a fortnight according to her husband's niece
who is taking her away! Her grandson will be living in the house
whilst she is away, so he can look after the damned bird!

What, pray tell, is a "budgerigar?" Sounds like a cross between a budgie
and a cigar?

I keep an eye on her, we have been neighbours for about 40 years, but
since I spoke to her daughter the dog-minding has been cancelled.
