My kid brought one in that she found in the gutter after it had been hit
by a car. We made some sugar water and put it in a spoon for the bird's
bill. It lapped with a long little tongue like a dog lapping water.
Poor thing died . of course. broken body, couldn't fly. but it could
lap the sugr water into its bill. i had thought they sucked it up, but
evidently not
