Ole Micah has been going to college part of this summer. His parents
work their jobs and what better way to occupy their boy than letting
him go to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Eight hours
a day he's been going with other kids who display special gifts.
He's in what is called "the Mad Scientist Lab." They play around all
day with math, do science lab experiments...that kind of thing. But
UNCG is telling just part of the story. The other part is getting
these kids comfortable in a university atmosphere, the instructors,
the buildings, the streets, the sidewalks, the summer students, the
overall greatness of it all. The boy has way passed me in any math or
science excercise. Anyway...all i know is the Yum Yum, a hotdog, ice
cream joint on the campus for the past 106 years....

quarter GDP shows 1.9 percent growth. But the MSM will keep flogging
recession, recession, recession 24/7.

My town used to be cotton capitol; cotton Carnival; Maid of Cotton,
world traveling model. That was before the boll weevil, came and
brought his family. We had evening wear of cotton, as well as day wear,
suits, whatever. The blend then might have been part linen. Mr. Crump
wore a white linen suit, a straw cady and wing tp spectater shoes.
Not every place was air conditioned back then, so cotton or linen was
about as comfortable as you got . We had pongee silk, and silk
stockings. It all had to be ironed. Ironinf in hot weather, I can tell
you was not pleasant. But back then, there were were black women who
would do your ironing for a fee, and made a living at it. Set a fan to
blow on you , turn on the radio and listen to the soaps
THere was one called "One Man's FAmily...

I buy my art supplies from Cheap Joe's Art Supplies
http://www.cheapjoes.com/
They are having a WONDERFUL sale on art supplies right now I think til
August 3. The prices are really great right now. I was able to afford
the paper I draw on for the first time in a looooog time. Al says it's
my birthday gift and I said "Which month"? He just rolled his eyes. I
like to draw on Arches watercolor paper. I also watercolor but I
mainly draw. Guess I'll have to DRAW a diamond. :)
I just could not pass up these prices. So,I thought I'd pass this on
to others who like to do artwork.

Much of the fabric used for clothing in US is polyester / cotton blend.
It doesn't wrinkle much. When dried in a dryer abd taken out while
still slightly moist, and hung up, it looks as good as if ironed.
Young folks tend to sneer when you say polyester because they think that
means the knitted fabric of long ago, and don't know that it is a
thread. When blended with cotton, it is not awfully hot. It doesn't
iron well, though.
