I have never been called for a political poll - until this year. I have had
two calls within the last couple of days. They proved to me what I have
long suspected - that many, if not most, polls are biased. The questions
were fair and well balanced in the first call, but the caller's reaction to
my responses showed me what answers they were hoping for. The one who
called this morning started out the same way, but the questions got more and
more biased. The last one I heard made me laugh so hard I just hung up,
after saying, "This isn't exactly an unbiased poll, is it?"

I hope that is soon Sacha. I, for one, will miss you. :-(

Sacha: When we were in Tahoe, Judith spoke so fondly of you that I am sorry
I didn't get to know you. Oh, well, hopefully your break from the n/g will
be a pleasant one and you'll be back soon. Take care.

I just thought I would let you know that I sent emails to Knut, Kelly
and Maeve advising them of the passing of Richard. I also spoke last
night with Archie in Texas and advised him of this terrible
happening. He is doing okay. The cancer is just there. Not
shrinking nor growing. He is controling the pain but doesn't like
using opiates. The reason is he spent a lot of his life chasing
smugglers of the stuff and now he feels guilty for having to use it.
The Doctor told him he wouldn't get "hooked" on it but Arch isn't so
sure. He is taking the pain killers reluctantly.
They either can't access the Group or don't monitor it like they used
to so I just took it upon myself (Aunt Blabby style I guess) to let
them know as they all knew Richard.

History Will Judge
__
By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, September 19, 2008; A19
For the past 150 years, most American war presidents -- most notably
Lincoln, Wilson and Roosevelt -- have entered (or reentered) office
knowing war was looming. Not so George W. Bush. Not so the war on
terror. The 9/11 attacks literally came out of the blue.
Indeed, the three presidential campaigns between the fall of the
Berlin Wall and Sept. 11, 2001, were the most devoid of foreign policy
debate of any in the 20th century. The commander-in-chief question
that dominates our campaigns today was almost nowhere in evidence
during our '90s holiday from history.
When I asked President Bush during an interview Monday to reflect on
this oddity, he cast himself back to early 2001, recalling what he
expected his presidency would be about: education reform, tax cuts and
military transformation from a Cold War structure to a more mobile
force adapted to smaller-scale 21st-century conflict.

How is it that the liberal dem's can be so concerned about privacy rights
being violated that they, especially the ACLU, will defend the rights of
terrorists, pornographers, and a myriad of other people that don't
deserve it, but not one of them has spoken out about the injustice of
Sarah Palin's e-mail being hacked. If this was a republican doing it to a
dem the ACLU would be all over it, but they don't believe in equal
justice unless you are a liberal like them. Also, how come the libs will
defend the right to live of a convicted murderer- no death penalty- but
will consign to a trash heap the life of a baby that has survived an
abortion?

You'll be back when life is not quite so hectic although I must say, I
envy you the next few months. As always, we will be in touch anyway
Dear Friend. Keep well and give my love to Ray.
