I think I said this some years ago...but I think it's in part a
difference between Aragorn (to use an example) having gone through the
majority of his turmoil and growth off stage, long before we meet him in
the book...and in the movies, us watching the end stages of some of that
growth.
Some of them i liked, some of them i didn't.
