Biofuel mandates are a disaster for me and my family because they jack
up the price of food. We pay for biofuels twice, once at the gas
station and yet again at the supermarket! The total cost to consumers
and the economy is double the cost of gas made from imported oil. My
car gets worse mileage as well, because ethanol has less energy per
gallon than gasoline. On top of that, the government subsidizes the
production of ethanol and we lose money there as well. Biofuels are a
totally losing proposition and therefore all biofuel mandates must be
repealed ASAP! This is insanity! Food prices are going through the
roof!

No, they don't. Food industry people and retailers do that, sometimes
pretending that biofuels rather than price gouging are the cause.
Various anti-competitive trade practices also contribute.
And why is Brazilian sugar kept out of US markets by tariffs? Why is
their price support for US sugar? How does this distort the corn
market in the US?

Convert the coal and oil burning power plants to nuclear and
watch the price of a barrell of oil drop.
