Under Winner-take-all scenario, Hillary Would Lead Obama

Author: CliffB

in the nomination delegate count. After all, in the general election,
they don't vote the electoral collage in some kind of namby-pamby half
measures. You win the big state, you get the big electoral windfall.
So perhaps it would have been wise to let the states that would most
matter in the general also have the same proportional import in
deciding who was going to actually be the nominee. Hillary happened to
virtually sweep almost all those big must-have states and thus would
have the lead in a winner-take-all model. But then again, the freakish
and now even nightmarish Democratic nomination process I guess wants
to make the loser in whichever state not feel so bad and be in touch
with their bleeding new age hearts, so they throw some delegates at
the losser to make them feel better; this...

Hillary Campaign Broke & Losing. Obama Ahead, Has Millions. Who Would You Rather Have Running the Country?

"Trail of unpaid bills casts doubt on Hillary Clinton's finances

Clinton has hundreds of outstanding bills for catering, security,
printing and hiring venues
Tom Baldwin in Washington

Hillary Clinton=3Fs determination to remain in the presidential
race may spell bad news for small businesses in the states that
have yet to vote.

Staff have left a trail of unpaid bills and trashed offices across
America in the past three months, raising fresh doubts about the
viability of her run for the Democratic nomination. A property
manager who let rooms to the campaign last summer in Clinton, Iowa,
said that he found rubbish, rotting food, holes drilled in the walls
and permanent stains on the carpet. He did not receive unpaid rent
until last month =3F but kept the $500 (£250) deposit to cover
clean-up expenses. . . . "

#Proposed Colorado law cracks down on corporate criminals

Colorado Proposes Tough Law on Executive Accountability
By DAN FROSCH

DENVER — For 30 years, Lew Ellingson loved being a telephone man.

His job splicing phone cables was one that he says gave him “a true
sense of accomplishment,” first for Northwestern Bell, then US West
and finally Qwest Communications International.

But by the time Mr. Ellingson retired from Qwest last year at 52, he
had grown angry. An insider trading scandal had damaged the company’s
reputation, and the life savings of former colleagues had evaporated
in the face of Qwest’s stock troubles.

“It was a good place,” he said wistfully. “And then something like
this happened.”

Now, Mr. Ellingson is the public face of a proposed ballot measure in
Colorado that seeks to create what supporters hope will be the
nation’s toughest corporate fraud law.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than half of U.S. doctors now favor
switching to a national health care plan and fewer than a third oppose
the idea, according to a survey published on Monday.

The survey suggests that opinions have changed substantially since the
last survey in 2002 and as the country debates serious changes to the
health care system.

Another wart on the immoral biofuel business!

Author: calderhome

Here's another appalling aspect of the immoral biofuel business. I
call it "immoral" because it is a sin to starve people in order to
feed cars and trucks.

Demands for crackdown on biofuels scam - US 'splash and dash' loophole
undermines climate change fight

Terry Macalister - The Guardian, Tuesday

The EU is being urged to take action to stop a biofuel trading scam
that exploits US agricultural subsidies and undermines the fight
against global warming.
Up to 10%% of biofuel exports from the US to Europe are believed to be
part of the rogue scheme reaping big profits for agricultural trading
firms.

The "splash and dash" scam involves shipping biodiesel from Europe to
the US where a dash of fuel is added, allowing traders to claim 11p a
litre of US subsidy for the entire cargo. It is then shipped back and
sold below domestic prices, undercutting Europe's biofuel industry.
