America is coming up on an extremely important
election, but the left-wing media has confused many
voters and there is no certitude about who will
win in November. Democrats are going to stake their
campaign on frustration with the War on Terror,
and will probably be repeating the Three Trillion
Dollar cost estimate till they're blue in the face.

There are several ways to counter financial arguments;
I'd like to suggest some possibilities and I hope
that others in these ng's can help us decide which
arguments will be most effective. True American
patriots will know that no price is too high to
pay when speaking of valor, honor, freedom and
justice, but we need to find explanations that even
atheists and other "undecided" voters can understand.

Here are eight arguments you can try on a Democrat
friend, like your brother-in-law. Let's work now
to refine these arguments.

Is Obama elitist? Is his poor bowling a turn-off? This is the
nit-picking idiocy of 24-hour news TV

Is Barack Obama elitist? Will his middle name harm his campaign? Are
voters turned off by his lack of bowling prowess? Did he give Hillary
the finger during a speech in Raleigh, North Carolina? When he picks
his nose, which digit does he use? And what does that say about him?

The first four questions were genuinely posed by US TV news over the
past few weeks. The nose-picking question wasn't. But it's no more
puerile and pointless than the ones that were. The answers to the real
questions, incidentally, run roughly as follows:

1. Is Obama elitist? Of course he is. He's running for president. It
doesn't get much more elitist than that. Still, in terms of privilege,
he'd have to go a long way to beat the ding-dong incumbent. Bush...

President Hamid Karzai survived an assassination attempt yesterday
when Taliban militants fired gunshots and rockets at a military parade
in central Kabul. Three people, including an MP, were killed.

Cabinet ministers, generals and foreign diplomats ducked for cover
after shots rang out at the heavily guarded ceremony near the
presidential palace. Bodyguards bundled Karzai into one of a convoy of
vehicles that sped away.

Live coverage on state television showed two turbaned MPs slumped in
their seats, one about 30 metres from Karzai. One died later, as did a
minority leader and a 10-year-old girl.

Television coverage was cut as rockets exploded in a nearby street.
Uniformed bandsmen and some soldiers joined hundreds of others
scrambling to safety.

Stupid liberals always blame the highest high office of the White
House for poverty. Well over a 40 year period, there have been plenty
of Democrats and Republicans in the WH. But lets take a closer look
at the party affiliation of the Mayors of the CITIES with the highest
amount of poverty, over 40 years from 1965-2005.

Um Aziz is an elderly woman whose three daughters and a son were killed when
the roof of her house collapsed because of the force of an explosion nearby.
She cursed U.S. forces.

"I don't want any reparations from the government. I want my revenge from
God," she said outside her ruined home, wearing bandages from her own

I keep noticing posts accusing Gore of being responsible for
starvation in third world countries because "30%% of our corn
production goes to ethanol production." The implication being that if
the 30%% weren't used for ethanol, it would feed the hungry. Not so.

Most of the corn grown in the US is field, or dent corn. The corn
contains high amounts of starch which is great for ethanol
production. That is where the 30%% is arises. The remainder of dent
corn is used for animal feed, sweeteners, and other uses. It is of
low nutritional value, and although used for animal feed, it cannot be
fed to animals for more than a short while before complications arise.

Sweet corn is what we put on our tables and is of good nutritional
value. It is not used for ethanol.

Religion a figment of human imagination

Humans alone practice religion because they're the only creatures to have
evolved imagination.

That's the argument of anthropologist Maurice Bloch of the London School of
Economics. Bloch challenges the popular notion that religion evolved and
spread because it promoted social bonding, as has been argued by some
anthropologists.

Instead, he argues that first, we had to evolve the necessary brain
architecture to imagine things and beings that don't physically exist, and
the possibility that people somehow live on after they've died.

Once we'd done that, we had access to a form of social interaction
unavailable to any other creatures on the planet. Uniquely, humans could use
what Bloch calls the "transcendental social" to unify with groups, such as
nations and clans, or even with imaginary groups such as the dead. The
transcendental social also allows humans to follow the idealised codes of
conduct associated with religion.

McCain will just have to be patient and wait like the rest of us to see
who will beat his outdated ass into the ground.
