"We're going to see $4 a gallon by this summer and we're going to see $5 a
gallon by the following summer," Heller said.
The freshman congressman also mentioned his fight against mining reform with
an 8 percent tax. That was an issue Heller mentioned when asked by President
Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney at an annual luncheon about their most
important issue. Heller predicted mining reform won't make its way out of
the U.S. Senate.

US Marines open gang-rape trial of four in Hiroshima
AFP, TOKYO Saturday, Feb 16, 2008, Page 5
The US military said yesterday it opened a hearing for four US Marines
accused of gang-raping a Japanese woman, even though Japanese
prosecutors decided not to press charges.
The case in Hiroshima is going ahead amid public outrage over a
separate alleged rape by another Marine on the southern island of
Okinawa, the biggest hub for US troops in Japan.
The US Marines said they held a so-called Article 32 hearing -- the
military equivalent of a preliminary court hearing -- on Thursday and
yesterday of the four Marines at their base in Iwakuni, near
Hiroshima.
A 20-year-old woman alleged that the four military men in October
raped her in a car and then stole her money.
"The US government has a responsibility to prove the facts about
allegations," said Master Gunnery Sergeant John Cordero, spokesman for
the Iwakuni base.

Racial inequality persists in U.S.: report
By Matthew Bigg
Wed Mar 5, 11:55 AM ET
ATLANTA (Reuters) - Black Americans still trail whites on such basics
as income, education and health, a study showed on Wednesday, even as
Sen. Barack Obama's barrier-breaking run for the presidency has
renewed the national focus on race.
Across a range of economic indicators including measures of
employment, poverty, housing, income and wealth, blacks were much
worse off than whites. If whites scored 100 percent on such measures,
blacks scored just 56.8 percent, a figure unchanged from last year,
the National Urban League said.
On a broader index covering such issues as education, health, social
justice and civic engagement, blacks stood at 73 percent, an increase
of just 0.41 percentage points over last year, the league said.

Yup........With St. Patty's Day not too far off in the Future, the
Leprechauns are in Full Rebellion........."Danny Boy" is being Banned
in Nueva York because it was written by an Englishman who had never
set foot in Ireland, and Corned Beef & Cabbage isn't what the Irish
used to eat.........Beef was very expensive and the Irish only sold
the Beef to the English - the Average Pat ate Bacon with his Fried
Cabbage & Potatoes..........Donchaknow..........

NY Pub Bans 'Danny Boy' on St. Patrick's
NEW YORK (AP) -- It's depressing. It's not usually sung in Ireland for
St. Patrick's Day. Its lyrics were written by an Englishman who never
set foot on Irish soil. Those are only some of the reasons a Manhattan
pub is giving for banning the song "Danny Boy" for the entire month of
March.
"It's overplayed, it's been ranked among the 25 most depressing songs
of all time, and it's more appropriate for a funeral than for a St.
Patrick's Day celebration," says Shaun Clancy, who owns Foley's Pub
and Restaurant, just off Fifth Avenue opposite the Empire State
Building."

The Spanish term " macho " is not a derogation in Latin America.
A previous president of Bolivia, by the name of Barientos made his point
one day when he flaunted his command of the situation by playing with a
parachute to the dismay of the political opposition.
When President Bush landed in a plane on a carrier on the way in
from from the war zone, he was being macho-to the dismay of the
congressional left. He was manifesting machismo, and more power to him.
Our notably macho presidents have been George Washington, Andrew Jackson
and Theodore Roosevelt, jr. We can use as much of that as we can find
and John McCain comes to mind.
