Contrary to Senator Barack Obama's claim that he never heard his
pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. preach hatred of America, Obama was in
the pews last July 22 when the minister blamed the "white arrogance"
of America's Caucasian majority for the world's suffering, especially
the oppression of blacks.

Senator Obama has sought to separate himself from his pastor's
incendiary remarks, issuing a statement Friday rejecting them as
"inflammatory and appalling" but failing to renounce Wright himself
for his venomous and paranoid denunciations of America.

In his press release, Obama claimed, "The statements that Rev. Wright
made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I
personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity [United
Church of Christ] or heard him utter in private conversation."

Yep, the ANTI-GOVERNMENT DRUG ADDICT LIBRUL CHARLES MANSON
is getting ready to get MORE murder charges.

Seven out of 10 Iraqis want foreign forces to leave: poll

LONDON (AFP) - More than two-thirds of Iraqis believe US-led coalition
forces should leave, according to a poll conducted for British
television
ahead of the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion.

The ORB/Channel 4 News survey suggested that 70 percent thought
multinational forces should withdraw.

Yet some 40 percent of the 4,000 people surveyed said they wanted the
United
States to play a bigger role in rebuilding Iraq and 36 percent wanted
more
British involvement.

Overall, the wide-ranging poll painted a mixed picture of Iraqi
attitudes,
contrasting their bleak daily existence with a surprisingly positive
attitude about the future.

TOKYO — Major Asian stock markets fell sharply in early trading on
Monday as pessimism continued to spread despite the FedÂ’s dramatic
moves over the weekend, sending TokyoÂ’s benchmark index to a
three-year low.

The markets responded negatively to the purchase of Bear Stearns over
the weekend by JPMorgan Chase. The acquisition, backed by the Federal
Reserve, underscored the severity of the credit crisis in the United
States and the weakness of the American economy.

In Tokyo, the regionÂ’s largest stock exchange, the benchmark Nikkei
225 index was trading at an almost three-year low. In the first 80
minutes of trading, the index dropped 3.1 percent to 11,862.72,
falling below 12,000 for the first time since August 2005.

WASHINGTON — Hoping to avoid a systemic meltdown in financial markets,
the Federal Reserve on Sunday approved a $30 billion loan guarantee to
engineer the takeover of Bear Stearns and announced an open-ended
lending program for the biggest investment firms on Wall Street.

In a third move aimed at helping banks and thrifts, the Fed also
lowered the rate for borrowing from its so-called discount window by a
quarter of a percentage point, to 3.25 percent.

The moves amounted to a sweeping and apparently unprecedented attempt
by the Federal Reserve to rescue the nationÂ’s financial markets from
what officials feared could be a chain reaction of defaults.
