Live Earth branded a foul-mouthed flop

Peak performance: Madonna takes her turn at Wembley
Live Earth has been branded a foul-mouthed flop.

Organisers of the global music concert - punctuated by swearing from
presenters and performers - had predicted massive viewing figures.

But BBC's live afternoon television coverage attracted an average
British audience of just 900,000.

In the evening, when coverage switched from BBC2 to BBC1, the figure
rose to just 2.7million.

And the peak audience, which came when Madonna sang at Wembley, was a
dismal 4.5million. Three times as many viewers saw the Princess Diana
tribute on the same channel six days before.

Two years ago, Live 8 drew a peak television audience of 9.6million
while Live Aid notched 10million in 1985.

The BBC blamed the poor figures on Saturday's good weather and said
its Wimbledon tennis coverage had drawn away afternoon viewers.

Subject: The Letters. July 4, 2007.

A few days ago I received a letter from a internet friend of mine.
This may seem impossible that the things written in the letter may be
happening but I thought it would be best to pass it on to the public at
large. Here is the letter.

..........................................................................
..........................................................................

Hi John:
I wrote this, but if you decide to e-post this, could you plaease say
that it came to you anonamosly with a post mark from Chicago, Scramento
or Omaha, cities with big shapeshifer presence. That might throw them
for a loop. (JW I chose not to do that because I don't want to mislead
any one.)
The N-O stuff may cause you a bunch of troble , so you may want to
exclude it.

Is Lieberman Taking 1st Steps of Swift Boat Campaign Should Gore Run?

Author:
Date: Jul 8, 2007 22:36

HARTFORD, Connecticut (Reuters) - U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, an
independent who supports Democrats in Congress despite his backing of
the Iraq war, said on Thursday he was not ruling out endorsing a
Republican in the White House race.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/07/06/lieberman-i-may-even-sup_n_55194.html

It's curious that Lieberman chose to make this statement on the eve of
"Live Earth" which many see as a massive pre-campaign rally for a
potential Gore Presidential run.

Gore's longtime opposition to the Iraq war puts him in direct
opposition to Lieberman (his former Vice Presidential running mate),
on what will surely be a key issue in the 2008 race.

Having Lieberman speak against his former running mate at the
Republican convention in 2008, would make the Zell Miller event of '04
seem almost trivial by comparison.

While my gut tells me Lieberman has too much integrety to whore
himself for the neo-con machine like that, there is no doubt it is the
pipe dream of every Republican strategist. And there is no question
that the idea of a Gore nomination in 2008 scares the hell out of them.

Huh. That's sad. She's been so Karen Carpenter for decades that she
doesn't even remember those days, I imagine.

Republicans don't hate? What about all that anti-Clinton vitriol throughout
the 1990s? What about Republican hatred for gays, minorities, the poor,
non-Christians, women and immigrants?

Their pedophilia and Republicanism are both results of their sexual
repression.

#Marjorie Cohn: The Opportunistic Commuter-in-Chief: The use and misuse of presidential clemency power

Author: 3607 Dead
Date: Jul 8, 2007 21:21

http://marjoriecohn.com/2007/07/opportunistic-commuter-in-chief.html

When he announced the commutation of Scooter Libby's 30-month
sentence, George W. Bush cited the ways Libby has and will suffer:
damage to his reputation, the suffering of his wife and children,
large fines, and the "long-lasting" consequences of being a convicted
felon.

When he was governor of Texas, however, Bush showed no compassion for
the 152 people whose death sentences he refused to commute. One was
Terry Washington, a mentally retarded man executed for murdering a
restaurant manager. The jury was never told about Washington's mental
condition. Bush was unmoved.

When Bush's Department of Justice recently convinced the Supreme Court
to affirm the 33-month sentence of Victor Rita, a decorated war hero
who was charged with the same crimes as Libby, Bush expressed no
concern for Rita's family or future.
