Populace Should Thank God For Rich People Who Pay The Lion's Share Of Taxes

Author: Libertarian
Date: Dec 9, 2006 05:39

"It is not in the stars [i.e. fate or by the capitalist system] but in
ourselves that we are
underlings".--Shakespeare

The top 5%% of the population in wealth and salaries in the U.S. pay about
95%% of taxes:
income taxes, corporation ( corporations don't pay taxes, people
do--Milton Friedman), dividend taxes,
and property taxes. The bottom 20%% of the population pays nothing in
income taxes--only sales taxes.
And in Canada poor people even get a rebate on sales taxes paid. This tax
money, overwhelmingly
paid by the rich, funds all the social services and benefits enjoyed by
the poor.

And it is the capitalist U.S. that leads the world in charitable giving
and humanitarian aid--by
a wide, wide margin over the more socialistic and "liberal" EU. Canada.
Totalitarian and
authoritarian countries are even more parsimonious and selfish.

If this story is true, then it's an example of hysteria on the part of
the teacher's aide. Hell, even if the little guy had reached up and
grabbed him a handful, which smaller kids sometimes do, the teacher
shouldn't have over-reacted.

Well, I don't think I was being ironic on a surface level.

The group of people in question are against both sexual misbehavior and
against the taking of nascent human life. Being against both of those
things doesn't seem to be inherently contradictory, so it doesn't
automatically indicate hypocrisy - in both cases consistently.

Hagar, mother of Ishmael, hear this.

From the sons of Isaac and the covenant God made with Abraham came
Christians, as numerous as the sands on the seashore.

Agreed. The $400,000,000,000 spent so far would pay for 500,000 more
police officers for 10 years.

That would be money MUCH better spent to improve our security.
