Who do you think would be a good actor for the role of Doc Savage?

(BTW: when is Arny's term up anyway?)

Brendan Fraser looks like the character on the covers of the old
pulps. As long as the story is strong and not goofy or too much
comedy, he could pull it off. See stills from the Mummy movies.

I'm sure there's others that might fill the bill but so far, this guy
would work for me. Instead of the hollering character he plays in the
Mummies, a reserved, strong, commanding presence would work from BF.
Just purchased the DS movie dvd on ebay last night. Way too hokey,
but , hey, it's Doc Savage.

Good shots, but Brendan Fraser is 40 already, maybe 42 by the time we see the

Like Arnie, I think the ship has sailed for this actor in a halfway believable
action adventure movie.

Besides, I can't think of any role that he played straight. I think you'd end up
with a situation like Bill Murray in "The Razor's Edge" or Adam Sandler in
"Punch-Drunk Love". Audiences have certain expectations from big stars and the
box-office would suck when Brendan Fraser fans let everyone know that Doc Savage
is nothing like the Mummy movies.

School Ties comes to mind but I'd have to dig on some other serious
stuff. It's just not coming to me(and that may be where you're right,
not as memorable).

Can't speak to this since I haven't seen "Punch-Drunk Love" or much of anything
with Sandler. Bill Murray's gotten a lot of good press for "Broken Flowers" &
"Lost in Translation" but again, I haven't seen them.

I've only seen him in comedies, action adventures (with a lot of comedy), and
cameos. Still, ask any man on the street and IF they know his name, they'll know
him for Mummies, Looney Tunes BIA, Dudley Do-Right and George of the Jungle.

Point is, what are audiences going to expect from him...

He went from School Ties which was serious, to Encino Man and
established a name with both and it didn't affect what fans thought of
him either way. He's done more comedy but none his roles took away
from whatever present role was. A household name like he has would
bring a younger generation into the role and bring Doc Savage back to
a household name. That's just my thoughts. I'm not his agent.
Do you have any ideas? The blonde dude from Fast & the Furious comes
to mind but seems too young to me, but in the long run could work
sequels. I can't think of anybody else offhand.

What about John cena? He's 31. Knowing Raimi, he'll get Adrien
Brody(great actor but a small slim guy(although he could play Brig.
Gen. Theodore Marley 'Ham' Brooks). What about Ben Affleck? Big,
tall, hair can be lightened.
