  Pulp Adventurecon, Spring '08 edition

Author: Ed Hulse
Date: Mar 22, 2008 13:39

I don't know why Rich Harvey is reticent to plug his own
pulp show, but somebody ought to do it.

For those of you who don't like getting last-minute
notification about such things, the Spring 2008 edition
of Rich's Pulp Adventurecon will take place next Saturday,
March 29, at the usual location: the Ramada Inn in
Bordentown, New Jersey. The con site is absurdly easy
to find, being on Route 206 just a hundred yards or so
off Exit 7 of the New Jersey Turnpike. This Central NJ
location is an easy drive for people coming from New
York City, Philadelphia, and all points in between.
Although Pulp Adventurecon is a one-day show, people come
from as far south as Virginia, as far north as Connecticut,
and as far west as Ohio.

  BRAND OF THE WEREWOLF

Author: Dave
Date: Mar 18, 2008 12:04

Re-reading this one now, and just amazed at how utterly perfect a DOC
adventure it is.

And amazed at how awful the original pulp cover was. The paperback
Bantam cover was one of the biggest deceptions ever, with DOC fighting
the werewolf, but it was incredibly striking. The original pulp cover
has the "brand"of the werewolf looking like some drooling gargoyle..

  Dave Stevens, RIP

Author: Ted Nolan
Date: Mar 11, 2008 19:52

Just saw the bad news on another group, and verified it via Google News.

I assume that everyone reading this group knows that his graphic novel,
_The Rocketeer_ was far superior to the rather insipid movie made of it,
and featured the most memorable appearances of Doc, Monk & Ham since the
pulp age..

New From Age of Aces - "Chinese Brady: The Complete Adventures"

Author: stahlmaske
Date: Mar 9, 2008 07:34

Age of Aces Books has just released our biggest and best book yet.
"Chinese Brady: The Complete Adventures", by C.M. Miller, is 360 pages
of exciting air war action. Like all of our books, it is $16.99 (6x9
Trade PB) and is available from Amazon, Adventure House, Mike Chomko
Books, or directly from Age of Aces (ageofaces@att.netnospam). Visit
our web site ( http://ageofaces.home.att.net ) for information on all
of our other great books:
Captain Babyface by Steve Fisher
The Red Falcon Volumes 1 & 2 by Robert J. Hogan
The Three Mosquitoes by Ralph Oppenheim
Coming Soon: The Red Falcon Volume 3

Journey Back to an Age of Aces!

"If that isn't Chinese Brady I'll eat my boots!" Major Bill Abel and
Colonel Rog Wharton recognized the new pilot immediately. His graying
hair might be dyed black, but these two old war horses would never
forget the man who had saved their lives in Shanghai during the 1900
Boxer rebellion.
