Over on the blogs at the Wall Street Journal, I've never seen such
gnashing of teeth and rending of garments and cries of "Sell! Sell!"
"Dow 7000!" "We're all going to diiiiiiiee!" "This is the new
financial ice age, the Depression was nothing compared to what will
come!"
Then I come over here and we're talking about horsies and kitties and
health care.

The Wall Street Journal probably lacks perspective. I mean, they're
all about Wall Street, right?

It's nice, but it won't last.

Hey, the Dow just dropped below 11,000.
Wow. Lehman Bros -- 52-week high $67.73, now $0.21. Ow. That's gonna
leave a mark.

Ostrichs are the next topic.

Ok, I got to ask this question, since it's a little fuzzy with me. Say I
got one share of Lehman Bros hanging around, and I want to dump it now.
Obviously, no-one who has toilet paper is going to buy it.
But still, I /can/ actually sell it, at around $0.21, right? So who is
buying it? Lehman Bros itself?

Someone one the radio mentioned "depression" and the talking mouth said,
"well, probably not, but possibly".
I'm wondering if it's a chickens coming home to roost scenario after years
of fraud, illegalities and cheap money. If so, I want no bailouts and the
people responsible get punished, or at least not rewarded. I'll take my
lumps, but justice has to triumph.
If the republicans get in, it's all their fault, if the democrats win,
then they're to blame.
charles, yeah, right, bishop

So long as the carnage is confined largely to WSJ subscribers, we
will survive this crisis without something like the 1930s.

(I am a WSJ subscriber, but I'm not going over there right now. I
think I'll look at some LOLcats.)

And moose. While I'm sure it's fun to get all excited about some
company that loaned money to people who couldn't pay it back, I
think you are being more productive discussing those other things.
