Most of the time, I just like to read the posts on this forum because
they're either funny or thought provoking. Once in awhile, I will post
something of my own. It seems like every time I post, this Tony person
harasses me. Recently, I posted some thoughts on what would happen if
I weren't here anymore. Life sucks sometimes and on that particular
day, it's where my head was. Not today, or yesterday and probably not
tomorrow, but that particular day.
Who is the boss of this site? I thought he'd been kill filed? Is there
some class I need to take to learn how to deal with this ape?
Somebody give me a clue, please-

There ain't one.

Okay, here's the deal: imagine you're in a football stadium (UK:
'football stadium') where you're ENCOURAGED to throw shit out on the
field. Now imagine that there's some fuckwad over in section 102 who you
really hate, so you build a little thing in front of you to keep you
from seeing the area in front of section 102, so you don't need to see
any of the shit HE throws on the field. That's usenet. Everybody gets a
different view.

No one. This is an unmoderated usenet group, Leslie. It's not like a
web based forum or an e-mail digest, where there are usually standards
of behaviour/terms of service and moderators enforcing them. Here,
anyone can post, whatever they want, in response to whoever they wish.
> I thought he'd been kill filed?
Killfiling is something that some newsreaders (programs specifically
written for reading usenet) allow individuals to delete/mark as read
posts from specific people, or about specific topics, stuff like that.
It happens at the individual reader's level only.

Here's one for you, Leslie: "Welcome to Usenet, buy a helmet."

Huey gave some very good advice about using a newsreader to do what
you need to do however you post: ignore him. Don't reply, don't try to
correct him or straighten him out: ignore him. If someone's exhibiting
prick-ish behavior, chances are, you aren't the only one to think so.
But you're probably the only one bothering to reply, because everyone
else has either dumped him in their respective killfiles, or otherwise
skips over his posts.

This is my choice...and if you choose your opponents wisely, they will
stop arguing shortly after you stop. If you inadvertently antagonize
someone who appears to hold grudges, this process takes much longer.
NJill is good, NJill is wise....listen to NJill. Even if she is
channeling Myron Floren.

There is no boss. Usenet is an anarchy. The "kill file" is done
either by your ISP (for obvious spam) or in your own news reader
software.
