Besides some occasional Brownian motion, what ever happens in Rhode
Island?

I'd say that RI and the big thinly-populated states (Montana, Wyoming and the
Dakotas, maybe New Mexico) would be near the bottom. Others get lifted off the
bottom by certain things that bring them to attention now and then: New
Hampshire for Presidential primaries, Delaware for business law cases. Outside
of their biggest cities, one doesn't seem to hear much about Minnesota and
Wisconsin; same goes for Washington and Oregon, except back when spotted owls
and loggers were in the news.

New Mexico gets the UFO and hot-air balloon stories - I'd agree that
Rhode Island probably is among the least-mentioned. I'd think
Delaware, but they have that whole business-friendly out-of-state
incorporation thing going.
I'd say this is at least as interesting a topic as the 100 best novels
- which states are the most and least represented here?
If you add to the tally, try to keep the list in alphabetical order.
I'll lead off with:
California - Bob Ward

How about least newsworthy city? That would have been San Angelo,
Texas up until this polygamy thing.

Not much has happened in Terra Haute since the days of Eugene Debs.
At one time Evansville was the largest city where you could not get a
Phd (or was it a Master's degree?)
Not much happens there either although I do not know whether the above
statement is still true.
