Incomprehensible Advertisement

OK, I saw this commercial today. In it, there are two ladies driving a
car, talking about something or other that I wasn't listening to, and
they suddenly see that weird Burger King guy walking on a sidewalk
next to the street.

SO THEY DECIDE THEY'RE GOING TO RUN HIM DOWN AND KILL HIM.

He jumps over a hedge next to a sidewalk, barely escaping as they're
driving down the sidewalk, mowing down fire hydrants and the like.

My only thought was that these were people who really, really, REALLY
hated Burger King.

What the f*ck?? It sure as hell doesn't make me want to go to Burger
King. (It was, I'm sure, a Burger King commercial and not a
competitor's, so that doesn't explain it.)

Next I imagine them stringing up Ronald McD, as retribution for all
the heart-clogging cholesterol he's doled out over the decades.

The series of comemrcials (there is at least one more, where the
women are trying to hire a hitman) is advertising Burger King's
new "Homestyle" line. The idea is that the King is now making
homestyle meals that are better than the wives/mothers can
make at home, so they want to take him out.

I think the hitman commercial was the first in the series, and
explained the concept a bit more. I'm not sure how wise it is
to treat commercials as some sort of serial film, though.

It keeps BK in front of your eyes and in your head. That's part of
advertising.

Makes sense to me. That Burger King guy is seriously creepy. Running him
down is too good for him.

They're moms, mad at BK becase thier kids think that BK sandwiches are
better than thiers.

It was cute. The BK king has a huge creep factor and I'm glad that thier
PR deprtment has figured this out and takes advantage of it.

Of course, BK burgers are the worst, so I almost never go there for thier
substandard (on the scale of fast food burger joints, that goes pretty far
down) fare.

Not bloodly likely.
