I just bought an antique four-stack barrister bookcase. Two weeks ago,
a friend took me in hand and spent the entire weekend clearing off the
kitchen table and moving the computer from the kitchen table to the
desk. The kitchen table is still clear and everything is filed. On
Saturday, I'm helping at at the farm & garden tour (plus playing with
baby kitties!) but on Sunday, I'm going to move the books from the old
bookshelves to the barrister bookcase.
I'm really sorry to read about the wronginess of Mr. Right in
expecting you to be someone else entirely. As others have said, it
sounds like there's something else going on. If you want to fly out to
Santa Cruz and hang for a few days, that would be okay too. You might
be pressed into helping stack and unstack books though.
