Here come Wally and Mary Ellen

My stepson and his girlfriend are coming for a long weekend. Last time
they were here my husband woke me up at 2:00 AM to yell at me because I
was insufficiently June Cleaver-ish. So I'm all smiles and brownies and
simmering rage. Wish me luck!

Well, it's not entirely clear. If it were clear, that would be fair,
wouldn't it? Well, more fair. I guess I'm not supposed to slob around
in pajama bottoms and tee shirts, and I'm not supposed to drink...

There's something else going on. Even the most casual AFCA visitor
knows you are not very June Cleaver-ish (NTTAWWD, thank god). Mr.
Right has to know that, too. Is he trying to outdo his ex, and
projecting some of that stress onto you?

Er, having seen your reply to Boron's post, I would like to retract
this post, since I didn't realize the situation was close to critical
mass. Nothing to see here, people, move along. You too especially,
shoeless man resembling Mr. Rogers.

I've met your husband. He's nice. He couldn't possibly yell at
you.

He expects /you/ to be June Cleaver-ish? How well does he know you?
