Okay, I am probably not going to shut up about this. I guess that's
what I get for hanging out with ADHD addled former special education
kids. But I wouldn't have even left the house if not for him and up
until the end of the evening I was having a great time. Not that I am
so presumptious that I was going to get some action, it certainly
wasn't that apparent, just that I made a rare social connection before
my friend trampled all over it like a rampaging elephant.
I know, "bros before hos" and all that, I guess he is still my friend,
I have known him all my adult life, but from now on it will be just
hanging out in my apartment or his watching TV. Not even going to
bother going out where there is a chance of meeting anyone else and
expanding my social circle. Nothing sucks worse than being drawn out
of my hole only to get kicked right back in.
I got her number but I am not going to bother. I had geniune momentum
and I physically felt it crashing to a halt once it was clear he was
going to insist on staying and transforming the rest of the night into
the Mikey show.
Fuck it, it only re-enforces the fact there is no point even trying
when my own friends are working against me.

Wait. I saw this on a 'Friends' episode once when I couldn't find the
remote. Worst five minutes of my life.

Offhand, I'd say that use of the phrase "bros before hos" indicates that
your adult life hasn't started yet.

She gave you her number. If it turns out not to be the local Dominoes,
let's call that "1st Base". Call her, if she talks to you, call that
"2nd Base". If she says "Call me again", call that "3rd Base". If you
can get her to go out for some tea, consider that a home run. Instead of
just giving up, mute your expectations a little.
