I made my first original recipe today. We like to cook at home, but
our A/C has been out of service so we have been eating out for the
last week, and that gets old fast. So I came up with a recipe I could
make using the crock pot outside, and some of our fresh veggies.
In the bottom of the crock pot, I put:
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 1/2 onion, sliced
3 cloves of garlic
On top of that, about a pound of shoulder roast seasoned with salt,
pepper, and Italian seasoning.
On top of the roast, I put 4 rosemary sprigs, plus fresh basil and
chopped homegrown tomatoes, mixed together.
Result: a little too much rosemary, but as my Canadian friends would
say, a definite do-over.

Are we having a recipe thread?
Just in case, here's my favorite recipe:
Eggplant Parmesan without the Parmesan
Make a bunch of fairly generic pasta sauce, with lots of herbs and
spices.
And garlic.
Slice a bunch of eggplants, like 4, and get them cooked somehow.
Frying takes a long time, and is really oily - baking with a little
olive oil is better, but also takes too long.
But anyway...
Oil a pan or three - pyrex, ceramic, anything you can bake.
Just a little oil, so the eggplant doesn't stick.
Deeper pans are better.

Most things in a crock-pot make their own gravy.
Kind of like fat guys in the summer.

As Lisa mentioned, you can make pulled pork easily in a crock pot.
Basically, throw some pork shoulder in there overnight. You can then add
barbecue sauce, or seasonings, or whatever.

It's almost impossible to burn something in a crock pot (although Lisa's
mom may have managed it). The temperature just isn't hot enough.
