  Beatrix Potter discovered penicillin?

Apparently she was a highly gifted scientist, but was taken
more seriously as a children's book illustrator. True that
Fleming wasn't the real discoverer?

Should you use the mailblocks package and expect a response from me,
you should preauthorize the dissensoftware.com domain.

I very rarely bother responding to challenge/response systems,
especially those from irresponsible companies.

MEASURE FOR MEASURE

Exploring the mysteries of conducting.

The American conductor Robert Spano raised his eyebrows and his
baton, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra dug into a smoky,
“Bolero”-like dance. He was nearing the end of two tense and
fatiguing days of recording a new opera, “Ainadamar,” in the
orchestraÂ’s concert hall, a half-buried concrete box. The base of
his spine twitched to the beat, as if jolts of current were
running through it. He grinned at the cellos, giving them a quick
thumbs-up, and cued the trumpets by pretending to flick a
cigarette butt at them.

AMAZON RAIN FOREST EARTH'S LARGEST SOURCE OF OXIGEN

Author: Diego Kasper EKOKLIK
Date: May 17, 2008 10:52

WWW.EKOKLIK.ORG = We are a group of people interested in the
participation of Amazon Rain Forest recovery. We must all act before
it is too late! Not let it happen as it did with the other major
Brazilian forest MARTA ATLANTICA. Our project: To plant 10 million
native trees in various regions of the Amazon rainforest. We must
implement no less than 1000 nurseries to reach our target of 10
million trees planted in approx. 5 years. Each farm (nursery) will be
of responsibility of a group of people today with a low income, We
will pay them for the continuity of trees care.

Our strategy to raise funds for the project is through our website,
Publishing Adds in the webpage available spaces. So our members
visitors surf thru sponsors offers. Even if you do not buy anything!
Sponsors will pay us for your visit and the resources will be applied
in the program. Approx. 1 cent per visit ! So we need million visits a
day for a long period to achieve enough resources for planting 10
million trees.

Humanity versus the sun -- Global Cooling

Author: Greg Goss
Date: May 17, 2008 09:34

May you live in interesting times. We continue to pump out megatons
of CO2 -- enough to affect the pH of seawater and coming up on the
point where we start dissolving some shells. We're also coming up on
(passed in some people's opinions) "peak oil" while our consumption
remains high and rising middle classes in India and China start
demanding their own powered vehicles. Once the oil runs out, we'll
switch to coal and double or treble our CO2 output.

CO2 is a powerful greenhouse gas.

And in the other corner ...

The new sunspot cycle is late. And just like when your girlfriend
says it, that could mean big issues. According to a report I'm
reading, LENGTH of sunspot cycles relates to medium term climate
trends. According to David Archibald, the upcoming solar sunspot
cycle is tracking on the pattern of cycles 16 to 23, the nineteenth
century pattern.

So we're insulating the planet with CO2 and the sun is setting up for
a cold decade and a half. One of these trends will dominate our
weather.

  Music service recommendations

Author: Dover Beach

If anybody gets Rhapsody, I recommend listening to the Summer Channel.
It's been playing all the while I've been reading AFCA. Here's what
they've played so far:

Amongst Butterflies (Paul Weller)
San Francisco Days (Chris Isaak)
Vacation (The Go-Gos)
I.G.Y (Donald Fagen)
And She Was (Talking Heads)
California Dreamin' (The Duo-Tones, and man, what a great cover)
Malibu Love Nest (Luna)
Baby(1971) (Os Mutantes)
These are the Days (Jamie Cullum)
International Jet Set (The Specials)

Would you have expected those to work together? Me neither, but they
do. And I don't know why some of them are on the Summer Channel, but
it's great. They have a terrific programmer.

Which services do you use, and have you created any fabulous channels?
