Makes a difference if your dog needs it for sure. Friend of mine has
his two big danes on raw meat, and they thrive. Hugely expensive, but
he makes six figures and drives a twenty year old Bronco. The man's got
priorities.
My 40 pounds of two dog have fairly sensitive stomachs, and one's a
senior that has Cushing's disease (takes Lysodren and the farts can
smell like a copper smeltery!), but I've found a commercial food that
gives them virtually no gas, and delightfully green and firm turds.
It's Lassie endorsed Nature's Way(TM). It's pretty cheap at the regular
grocery even. First ingredient is meat, which is very unusual for a dog
food in its price range. It contains no commonly allergenic stuff,
AFAIK and dangit, it's endorsed by Lassie, which rocks big time. :D
Worth a try for anybody that can't fork out the uber bucks for the
really fancy dog food. My fickle dogs will usually even stoop to eating
it dry, but it usually gets a schmear of some appalling canned food or
they give me "the look".
