Harris Fire

San Diego, California -- The Harris Fire in the East County is 65%% contained
this morning. Firefighters expect to fully contain the 85-thousand-acre
fire by mid-week. Five persons were killed in that fire, making it the
deadliest of the 17 major fires that hit Southern California last week.

Rice Fire

Fallbrook, California -- Firefighters have the Rice fire contained. That
Fallbrook area fire has destroyed 9,000 acres. More than 200 homes were
lost in the flames and 200 homes remained threatened and remain evacuated.
A community meeting is planned for 16:00 this afternoon at Fallbrook High
School.
