Harris Fire

San Diego, California -- The Harris Fire in the East County is 65%% contained
this morning. Firefighters expect to fully contain the 85-thousand-acre
fire by mid-week. Five persons were killed in that fire, making it the
deadliest of the 17 major fires that hit Southern California last week.
Rice Fire

Fallbrook, California -- Firefighters have the Rice fire contained. That
Fallbrook area fire has destroyed 9,000 acres. More than 200 homes were
lost in the flames and 200 homes remained threatened and remain evacuated.
A community meeting is planned for 16:00 this afternoon at Fallbrook High
School.
Witchcreek Fire

Ramona, California -- The fire called the "Witchcreek" fire in the
Ramona-Julian area has burned nearly 200,000 acres and is 75%% contained.
There is still a threat to Pine Hills, Cuamaca, Alpine, Mesa Grande,
Cuymaca, Santa Isabel and Harbison Canyon. That fire has cost more than
$11,000,000.
Horno Fire

Camp Pendleton, California -- At Camp Pendleton, the Horno fire has burned
more than 21,000 acres and is now 100%% contained. No homes were lost and two
firefighters were hurt.
Poomacha Fire

Valley Center, California -- Low winds and high humidity should help
firefighters fighting the Poomacha fire and help them prevent it from
reaching Temecula and the Pechanga Indian Reservation. It moved from the La
Jolla Indian Reservation, then to Palomar Mountain, and is heading
northwest. Twelve firefighters have been injured fighting that fire, 60
homes have been destroyed and another 2,000 homes remain threatened in the
Rincon, Valley Center and De Luz areas of the county.
