Residents Evacuated After Train Derailment, Fire
Car On Derailed Train Contains Propane
PAINESVILLE, Ohio
Wednesday, October 10, 2007 18:34 EDT

A train derailed near the Route 44 and Route 2 interchange near Heisley Road
on Wednesday afternoon.

Several cars continue to burn at the scene and there continues to be reports
of thick black smoke billowing over the area.

One of the cars not on fire contains propane. There is concern that if the
fire spreads, the propane tank may catch fire.

Meanwhile, a Wickliffe firefighter officials said the derailment is in a
remote area, causing difficulty for firefighters to reach the fire. The
derailment is about 300 yards from the road.

Fire departments from several cities including Willoughby, Eastlake,
Willowick, Mentor and Painesville.
