Massachusetts unveils firefighter memoria

A new memorial honoring the state's fallen firefighters was unveiled Monday
evening at Ashburton Park near the Statehouse.

It took 8 years and a lot of hard work to make the memorial a reality.

The 11 foot monument depicts several firefighters in search and rescue mode
while battling a fire.

It's dedication is meant to remind visitors of the sacrifices made by
firefighters.

Robert McCarthy, head of the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts,
says the deaths of 2 Boston firefighters last month brings home the need for
such a memorial.
