Massachusetts firefighters honored for bravery at Statehouse ceremony

Gov. Deval Patrick, State Fire Marshal Steve Coan and other officials helped
award 2 Medals of Honor to firefighters from Boston and Brockton.
Boston firefighter Andrew Lee raced into a burning building and discovered
two children. He passed them off to other firefighters and then rescued a
third child trapped in a bedroom.
Brockton firefighter Kevin Galligan entered a burning tripledecker three
times, helping rescue four people, including an infant.
Nine Medals of Valor were presented to firefighters from Auburn, Brockton,
Melrose, Plymouth, Watertown and Worcester.
For the first time, four special Patriot's Medals were awarded to fire
service personnel who performed heroic acts while in Iraq or Afghanistan.
